2013 Bucknuts 50: No. 7, Ben Gedeon

Ben Gedeon

Gedeon rarely comes off the field for Hudson

Our Bucknuts 50 moves to prospect No. 7 today, linebacker Ben Gedeon. The Buckeyes have offered Gedeon a scholarship and he has Ohio State as one of his top choices.

    • Bill would you say he is a buckeye lean?

    • He's just an all around good football player that can do it all, I like him alot. If Meyer likes him anough too he will lock him up. He's from Ohio, I would imagine he would look at OSU first

    • If Gedeon and Love both commit, do we only take one more LB? Will we take 4 if we have 3 committed and Jaylon Smith decides to make it easy travel on mom and family? I like all of the LBs we've offered so far and think Kimbrough should have an offer too. Seems like we're going to some good ones this year to add to the last 2 classes stacked at LB.

    • Seems like we took too many linebackers last year and now we have to be pretty choosy this year. Probably couldn't be helped given our depth at the position (e.g playing a one legged freshman during the Michigan game).

    • Hey staff, how about a recruiting summary/update article once a month that summarizes our offers and targets at each position and any news. If no one else is available, I bet jbook would write it for you. I think the recruiting junkies (pretty much everyone on this site, myself included) would enjoy something like that.

    • Can you say, "Chris Spielman"?

His high school bio and overal description of the type of player he is even down to his measurables, reads a lot like A.J. Hawk's in high school as well. Did everything on those Centerville teams he played on, literally. From what I've read thus far he's leaning towards Stanford.

I would not necessarily say that at this point. I don't get the feeling OSU trails anyone, but I would not say he is leaning to the Buckeyes. I would not be surprised if it comes down to OSU or Michigan.

      Thanks...

So tired of hearing the word you mentioned...again.

Still like Kimbrough also, but really need to keep these throwback types at tOSU. (This kid can hit, run and has amazing strength)...4.6 40 at 225 lbs...WOW

The Aj's and Speilmans (even though not as fast as Gedeon) of the LB world are too hard to come by anymore!

      Reel him in!

I was actually kind of thinking that it read a lot like Storm Klein's. Wasn't Storm a crazy good athlete in HS too like Gedeon? Doesn't seem like it panned out too well at the college level.

I didn't know much about Storm Klein coming out of high school but I don't doubt your assessment at all. I live close to Centerville so I got to see a lot of Hawk in high school and I know he did everything for those teams but work the concession stand. Lol

michibuck....YOU NAILED IT. I hope his Dad "tells" him, ala Chris' dad when he said, "SON, you ARE going to The Ohio State University". First, he's an Ohio kid, Second, he's a FOOTBALL player and Third, I can't wait until his freshmen year when he's pacing the sidelines, ala Chris Spielman, and keeps YELLING at Luke and Urban, "PUT ME IN...PUT ME IN. Put him at middle linebacker and watch out....I personally wish, he might increase his speed just a little so he could move back to safety and "roam" the middle of the field and dare receivers to come over the middle and catch the ball. Give him "number 32", like Woody did on his National Championship Team in 69'.....lastly, you all know better than I if Ben is the one...BUT, when the Buckeyes are out here in two or three years playing in the Rose Bowl for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (think OSU/Miami, Fla - 2002) I want an "OHIO" kid running to the ball carrier near the goal line as the University of Spoiled Children are stopped on fourth and goal. GO BUCKS !!

Actually I think he did that too during halftime. I remember buying popcorn from him and telling him good game so far!! JK, but that would be funny though.

    • Just curious as to # 72 on offense. Played Left Tackle - lot of pancakes.
