PSU Fallout: Impact On Ohio State

Current players can transfer without sitting out. Are there any possibilities in this group?

Any school that takes a PSU transfer does not have to count them against their 85. So you don't have to give up a Buckeye for one of them.

I haven't heard any news that suggests DJ would switch his commitment to us. I know Urbs is working on him, so I'll keep hoping. The only reason he would play for Pitt would be location. If he chooses Pitt, that tells me he doesn't care about winning.

I think that is for this year only so after this year they would count against your total. So unless they are a Sr., you would eventually give up someone else for them (and being as we have a bowl ban this year, doubtful any PSU Sr. would want to come into our program).

If some of their good players start going to Michigan you may change your mind.

Personally, this is a opportunity to strengthen any part of the team that's a weaknesses.

I don't see any of the PSU seniors coming into OSU since we have a bowl ban this year. If the above poster was correct that any school can accept kids this year regardless if it is above 85 scholarships but it will count against total thereafter, I think any underclassman has to be elite for OSU to use a scholie on them

There is all kinds of room. Penn State kids are no factor in your scholarship limit. If Ohio State wanted Penn State's entire recruiting class they could take them and still have at least 6 open spots.

Interesting view, but how would that negatively impact Ohio State? It seems like an announcer mentioning the PSU scandal would only have implications for PSU if any. If anything, it could be spun as OSU taking in a kid who got caught in the crossfire at PSU. I think we should take as many of the seniors who would want to play for us because they wouldn't count against our scholarship count and would provide depth. Also, we should take their more talented players regardless of class.

I also think the stripped scholarships should be made available to either another athletic team or to the general student population. Hate to see 20 kids a year denied a scholarship because of the actions of the higher ups. If your intention is not to punish those who had nothing to do with the scandal, this is a logical solution to avoid denying the countless students the opportunity to attend college on scholarship
