Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

The week started on Friday as I posted a thread on the games last weekend involving the Buckeyes’ verbal commitments. Among the top performers were Ezekiel Elliott and Taivon Jacobs.

What might be the deciding factor for 5-star safety Vonn Bell?

On Sunday my feature last week was the latest edition of my Ohio State Prediction Update. In this edition I predict Urban Meyer will sign at least 22 prospects in his 2013 recruiting class and could sign 24 if there are coaching changes at two schools.

Also on Sunday Steve Wiltfong and I had a thread as to where the Ohio State coaches would be as they visit prospects during the Buckeyes’ bye week.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had information on what might be the deciding factor for Vonn Bell, Urban Meyer trying to make things work out for a wide receiver to be a Buckeye, Meyer checking in with a top lineman and more.

With a bye week, on Monday morning Urban Meyer and Stan Drayton headed to Cleveland and stopped to check on Shelton Gibson, CJ Worley and Donovan Munger. The Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to all three and all three say Ohio State is either their top choice or one of their top choices.

Gareon Conley is not sure if he is still committed to Michigan or not, but he is sure he will make an official visit to Ohio State. Conley also plans to visit Oregon. He recently spoke to Meyer and Mike Vrabel.

Linebacker Trey Johnson remains committed to Auburn, but will make an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Nov. 24 when the Buckeyes host Michigan. Johnson says Meyer’s first Ohio State team is looking good and he has taken notice.

2014 wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass visited Ohio State on Wednesday, attending the Buckeyes’ practice. However, it is going to be awhile before Snodgrass announces his college choice.

Vrabel was in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday to see Ohio State defensive end commitment Joey Bosa be honored for his selection to the Under Armour All-American game. But Vrabel also is very interested in Joey Bosa’s freshman brother Nick Bosa who last week was offered a scholarship by Meyer.

On Thursday afternoon Buckeye assistant coach Kerry Coombs stopped at Detroit (Mich.) Loyola to check on one of the country’s top 2014 defensive ends, Malik McDowell, as well as 2014 offensive lineman Ka’John Armstrong. Both have Ohio State high on their list.

It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at We continue our wall-to-wall Buckeye recruiting coverage tomorrow with my Sunday feature. This week I have the second edition of my Ohio Class of 2014 Top 10.
