Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

We started our coverage this past week on Saturday afternoon with news that 2014 offensive lineman Kyle Trout had landed a scholarship offer from Urban Meyer.

The Buckeyes offered offensive lineman Kyle Trout last Saturday.

On Sunday I began the day with the latest edition of my Ohio State 2013 Hot List. There was definitely some change on my list from the week before though the guy at the top stayed the same.

Ohio State running back commitment Ezekiel Elliott made an official visit to Missouri last weekend and the Tigers laid it all out for Elliott.

Wide receiver James Clark made an official visit to Ohio State last weekend. It was a visit Clark called “great.”

Also making an official visit to Ohio State last weekend was slot receiver Dontre Wilson. According to Wilson’s coach, things went quite well for Wilson on his visit.

Slot receiver/running back Corn Elder was offered a scholarship by Purdue to play basketball, complicating Elder’s decision.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had news on Urban Meyer firing back at Michigan coach Brady Hoke, the Buckeyes making an offer just in time, Meyer letting Trout know he is the man for the Buckeyes and more.

Dave Biddle had a story on Tuesday morning looking back on hits and misses when it comes to Ohio State football recruiting.

Also on Monday I broke the news that Ryan Timmons would not be making an official visit to Ohio State.

Vonn Bell talked about his official visit to Tennessee last weekend as well as what he is thinking about Ohio State, Alabama and a possible fourth official visit.

After arriving back in Texas, Wilson said on Monday that he was 50/50 between Ohio State and Oregon.

Offensive lineman Mason Cole, a huge 2014 Buckeye target, is definitely considering Ohio State. He plans to visit OSU, Michigan and Notre Dame again sometime in the next few months.

Bucknuts had word on Tuesday that Timmons had set a date and time to announce his college choice.

Buckeye linebacker commitment Trey Johnson made an official visit to Tennessee last weekend. On Tuesday I had news that Johnson was “locked in” to Ohio State and will sign on Wednesday with the Buckeyes.

On Tuesday afternoon wide receiver Corey Smith committed to Ohio State. I had both a commitment story and a story on the impact of Smith’s decision.

On Wednesday I had another “Chat” here at Bucknuts, and then later followed up with the transcripts from that “Chat.”

Steve Helwagen caught up with 2014 offensive lineman Orlando Brown in Florida. The huge tackle has been offered by the Buckeyes.

Late Tuesday night the father of Oregon wide receiver commitment Darren Carrington said he and his son were likely going to make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

The Buckeyes have offered 2014 defensive end Lawrence Marshall. Kerry Coombs was in Michigan on Wednesday and stopped at Marshall’s school. Marshall plans to visit Ohio State the weekend of Feb. 10.

On Thursday night I posted an article titled, “Kurelic Makes Sense Of It All...” In the article I looked at who is still on the Buckeyes’ board, who is off, and why in each case.

Mike Vrabel stopped at University School in Chagrin Falls on Friday and met with 2013 wide receiver Luke Vadas. Vadas, who is being recruited as a preferred walk-on by the Buckeyes, plans to visit Ohio State, Feb. 7.

As you can see from above, it was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very, very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. We continue our complete Buckeye recruiting coverage on Sunday with the last edition of my
Ohio State 2013 Hot List.
