Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

We started our coverage this past week with coverage of the prospects visiting Ohio State last weekend. Those prospects included offensive lineman Kyle Trout who committed to the Buckeyes. I had two stories on Trout including the impact of his decision.

Trout visited Ohio State last Sunday and committed to the Buckeyes.

Also committing to Ohio State was athlete Parris Campbell Jr. I had two stories on Campbell’s decision too.

Meyer landed his second Top 4 Michigan 2014 prospect as defensive end Lawrence Marshall also committed to Meyer. I had two stories on Marshall as well.

Watson is the 2014 quarterback the Ohio State staff is targetting.

On Sunday night I posted a story on huge JUCO offensive tackle Chad Mavety who the Buckeyes have offered and who plans to visit Ohio State in April.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had news on Buckeye quarterback target DeShaun Watson and OSU’s chances with Watson, which 2014 prospects Meyer was talking to on National Signing Day, the Buckeyes’ 2014 offensive line recruiting plans and more.

Star Tennessee safety Todd Kelly visited Ohio State last weekend and came away very impressed.

Four-star wide receiver Demarre Kitt made the trip up from Georgia to Ohio State last weekend and afterwards said it was the best visit he has been on and said Ohio State and Clemson are his two favorites.

The Buckeyes missed out on punter Johnny Townsend. So the day after National Signing Day Meyer called Andrew Gantz who is a strong preferred walk-on punter candidate for the Buckeyes.

On Wednesday I held a two hour plus chat with many, many great questions that included 2014 quarterback DeShaun Watson, the offensive line situation and more. Afterwards I posted the complete transcripts from the chat.

On Wednesday night Marshall de-committed from the Buckeyes after visiting both Michigan State and Michigan.

On Thursday I posted a feature on my Top 22 2014 prospects in Big Ten country. The Buckeyes already have commitments from or are on the list of 14 of the 22 prospects.

Five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan recently visited Clemson and now says things have changed a little when it comes to the Buckeyes’ lead.

On Thursday night the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to wide receiver Derek Kief and I had a story posted shortly after that offer was made.

The Buckeyes offered a scholarship very early to Arizona wide receiver Mark Andrews. Andrews says he is definitely interested in Ohio State and will visit OSU, most likely in the summer.

As you can see from above, it was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very, very busy week here at We continue our complete Buckeye recruiting coverage on Sunday with another edition of my Ohio Class of 2014 Top 10.
