Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

Our recruiting coverage this past week began with my usual Sunday feature. This week it was the first edition of my 2015 Ohio State Hot List as stays ahead of the curve. My list included 10 outstanding sophomores that are candidates to play for the Buckeyes someday.

Offensive lineman Alex Bookser plans to visit Ohio State on April 5.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had a listing of the prospects visiting Ohio State this spring, a top lineman perhaps tipping his hand that Ohio State is his leader, perhaps another Texas quarterback that could be a Buckeye and more.

First thing on Tuesday morning I had a story on offensive tackle Alex Bookser who says the Buckeyes offered him a scholarship a couple of weeks ago. Bookser spoke with Luke Fickell on Monday night and the two worked out April 5 for Bookser to visit Ohio State.

The Ohio State staff is aggressively working ahead and case in point is their scholarship offer this past week to freshman quarterback Xavier Gaines from Florida. Gaines was excited about the offer and says he can’t wait to visit Ohio State.

Five-star offensive lineman Braden Smith visited Ohio State on Monday and finished up with the Buckeyes on Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon Steve Wiltfong had the report from Smith who indicated his stop at OSU was a very good one.

Bucknuts had the news on Tuesday afternoon that the country’s No. 2 pro-style quarterback, Caleb Henderson, would be visiting Ohio State this weekend. Henderson finishes up his OSU visit today.

On Wednesday morning I had the latest edition of Kurelic’s Talking… This edition included my assessment of the Buckeyes’ 2014 recruiting as well as thoughts on Thad Matta and the basketball Buckeyes and more.

We had plenty of recruiting information on Thursday including running back Jonathan Hilliman changing his spring visit scheduled which includes Ohio State, a Buckeye scholarship offer to athlete Sam Hubbard, and Florida defensive tackle Anthony Moten saying Ohio State is in his Top 10 and he plans to visit Ohio State, most likely in the summer.

On Friday morning I had a story previewing Vayante Copeland’s visit to Ohio State today. Copeland, who is supposed to arrive at OSU around 9:00 this morning, has over a dozen scholarship offers.

As you can see from above, it was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very, very busy week here at We continue our complete Buckeye recruiting coverage on Sunday with another edition of my 2014 Ohio Top 10 .
