Our recruiting coverage this past week began with the big news that defensive lineman Dylan Thompson had become Urban Meyer’s fifth 2014 commitment when he visited Ohio State last weekend. Steve Wiltfong had the story and I had the impact of Thompson’s decision.
Kyle Berger made another visit to Ohio State last weekend and again came away very impressed.
Thompson certainly was not the only prospect to visit Ohio State last weekend. Quarterback Caleb Henderson made the trip up to Ohio State from Virginia with some of his family members and Henderson had an outstanding visit.
Linebacker Kyle Berger made yet another visit to Ohio State last weekend. All signs continue to point to Berger deciding between Ohio State and Michigan and he will likely visit both again before he decides.
On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had news on a top Florida running back the Buckeyes have offered visiting Ohio State, the situation with Texas commitments Demetrius Knox and
Daniel Gresham visiting Ohio State last weekend, three Michigan super sophomores finally getting their visits to Ohio State set and more.
Clemson QB commitment DeShaun Watson was a hot topic during my chat last weekend.
Speaking of top Michigan sophomores, Brian Cole visited Ohio State last weekend and landed a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes. Cole previously had offers from Michigan and Michigan State.
JUCO Ohio State offensive line target Jermaine Eluemunor made some big changes in his visit schedule as well as when he plans to make a commitment. Bucknuts had the details on Monday.
Wide receiver Chris Godwin, who the Buckeyes have offered, told me he is visiting to Ohio State this weekend and I had the news on Tuesday morning.
Gresham spoke on Monday with Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton and was offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes.
Defensive back/running back Vayante Copeland visited Ohio State last weekend. Copeland, who has over a dozen scholarship offers, didn’t land one from the Buckeyes while he was in Columbus, but the Ohio State staff let him know they are definitely interested and will be evaluating him in regards to what position he might play at Ohio State and a possible Buckeye offer.
On Wednesday I held another chat. As always there were plenty of great questions and as always I posted the transcripts after the chat was over.
A potential 5-star offensive tackle has an Ohio background. The parents of 2015 Georgia star Mitch Hyatt grew up in Ohio and Hyatt is one of just a few sophomore offensive linemen the Ohio State staff has already offered a scholarship. Hyatt is definitely interested. In fact he is already talking about visiting Ohio State.
Offensive lineman Quenton Nelson is visiting Ohio State this weekend. Earlier this week Bucknuts.com had a preview of his visit.
One of the top athletes in the state of New Jersey, Mike Gesicki, visited Ohio State with his father on Thursday and was very excited to see OSU for the first time. Bright and early on Thursday morning Bucknuts.com previewed the visit. Then after the visit was over I had plenty of quotes from a very impressed Gesicki.
Five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan told me earlier this week that his visit to Ohio State next week is still on as long as there are no snowstorms. McMillan went on to discuss where his interest in Ohio State and other schools currently stands.
On Friday morning I previewed 4-star wide receiver Derek Kief’s Ohio State visit. Kief drove to Columbus on Friday and finishes things up at OSU today.
As you can see from above, it was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very, very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. We continue our complete Buckeye recruiting coverage on Sunday with another edition of my 2014 Ohio Top 10 .
