Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

The week started on Friday as I posted a thread on the games last weekend involving the Buckeyes’ verbal commitments. Among the top performers was Darron Lee who accounted for six touchdowns in New Albany’s 53-33 win over Olentangy Orange. Lee rushed for four scores and passed for two others.

On Sunday morning I posted my start of the week feature which last week was “What Remains For 2013.” In this feature I break down the Buckeyes’ 2013 recruiting efforts including what the Bucks currently have, how they got there, how many more prospects Urban Meyer will take and the names to keep in mind.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had information on who might be the next Terrelle Pryor when it comes to Ohio State recruiting, who could be the next Braxton Miller for Urban Meyer, why Courtney Love was at the Ohio State-Cal game and more.

The Buckeyes’ search for a linebacker or two for their 2013 recruiting class continues. Luke Fickell has been talking to Auburn linebacker commitment Trey Johnson and Johnson says he will make an official visit to Ohio State.

Speaking of prospects committed elsewhere that plan to make an official visit to Ohio State, USC wide receiver commitment Sebastian LaRue says he will make an official visit to Ohio State.

Defensive back/running back Dravon Henry is one of the top 2014 prospects in the state of Pennsylvania. Henry says the Buckeyes have indicated they are going to offer him a scholarship and he says he wants to get to an Ohio State game this season.

On Thursday afternoon defensive end/outside linebacker Tyquan Lewis as expected announced that he had picked Ohio State over scholarship offers from North Carolina, LSU and others. We quickly had both a commitment story and a story on the impact of Lewis’ decision posted here at

New Jersey running back Gerald Owens is one of the country’s top 2014 prospects and is hearing from the Buckeyes. In fact OSU assistant coach Kerry Coombs wants Owens to call him a couple times per week. Owens says he will soon attend an Ohio State game in the Horseshoe.

Another offensive line offer went out this past week. On Friday 2014 Cleveland Glenville offensive lineman Marcelys Jones landed an offer from Ohio State assistant Stan Drayton.

It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at We continue our wall-to-wall Buckeye recruiting coverage tomorrow with my Sunday feature which this week will be the latest edition of my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds.
