Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

The week started on Friday as I posted a thread on the games last weekend involving the Buckeyes’ verbal commitments. Among the top performers were Ezekiel Elliott and Tracy Sprinkle.

Elder attended the Ohio State-Purdue game and came away very impressed.

On Sunday our feature last week was the Top 10 Ohio State Recruiting Battles. This feature included both football and basketball recruiting battles the Buckeyes are involved with and was headed up by a top linebacker Urban Meyer is pursuing.

The Buckeyes are making their pitch for slot receiver prospect Corn Elder and Elder made an unofficial visit to Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ game against Purdue. Elder was definitely impressed and came away saying Ohio State and UCLA top his list.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had information on why it will be awhile before the Buckeyes know if they have “flipped” USC wide receiver commitment Sebastian LaRue, a Buckeye commitment that is being recruited by other schools and if he is wavering, Meyer and staff following the words of Woody Hayes when it comes to recruiting and more.

This past week Ohio State 2014 target, wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass, said he would soon be announcing his top five and then announce his college choice.

The Buckeyes have held the lead for wide receiver Shelton Gibson since Gibson attended Meyer’s Friday Night Lights camp in late July. Gibson now says the Bucks’ lead has changed. Is it getting bigger or smaller and who else is Gibson considering?

According to his coach, 5-star wide receiver Robert Foster has narrowed his decision down to three schools and Ohio State is one of the three. Foster is expected to make an official visit to Ohio State.

Former Michigan offensive line commitment David Dawson names the five schools he is now focused on and one of the five is Ohio State. The Buckeyes have offered Dawson a scholarship and he plans to be in the “Shoe” for the Ohio State-Michigan game.

The Buckeyes are very interested in 2014 quarterback Will Ulmer and Ulmer thinks an Ohio State scholarship offer could come as soon as next week.

Linebacker Trey Johnson remains committed to Auburn, but plans to make official visits to Ohio State, Florida, USC and Penn State. Johnson received his Under Armour All-American Game jersey this past week. In this video he talks about that experience and what it will take to get him to change his commitment from Auburn.

It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. We continue our wall-to-wall Buckeye recruiting coverage tomorrow with my Sunday feature. This week I have the most recent edition of my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds. The odds of a number of top prospects ending up at Ohio State are rising.
