Our coverage began on Saturday morning as I had a story on 2014 offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne and his performance the day before at the Buckeyes’ Two Day Position Camp.
Offensive lineman Jimmy Byrne attended the Ohio State Two Day Position Camp
Later in the day on Saturday I had stories on three of the top performers at the Buckeyes’ Senior Advanced Camp. Tight end Jeb Blazevich showed why he is one of the top targets on the Buckeyes’ 2014 recruiting board. Wide receiver Taivon Jacobs had come into the camp with an offer from the Buckeyes while safety Darron Lee was hoping to earn one.
One of the top performers at last Saturday’s camp was 2014 offensive lineman Kyle Trout who received a lot of attention from college coaches at the camp and spoke with the OSU staff at the end of camp.
On Sunday morning I had my weekly feature which last week was the latest edition of my 2013 Ohio State Hot List. The top two Buckeye targets on my list were a safety and a wide receiver.
On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had an item on the two sure things for Buckeye 2014 recruiting in Ohio, an item on whether a Notre Dame offensive line commitment is still in play when it comes to the Buckeyes, and OSU offensive coordinator Tom Herman doing more than his share when it comes to recruiting quarterbacks.
One of the top quarterback prospects at the Buckeyes’ Senior Advanced Camp was Kyle Allen who made the trip to Columbus from Arizona. Allen did not land an offer from the Buckeyes, but the OSU staff is very interested in him.
Big news came early Tuesday afternoon as safety/linebacker Darron Lee was offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes and quickly committed.
What impact did Lee’s commitment have on the Buckeyes’ 2013 recruiting class and the other players the OSU staff is recruiting? I broke it all down in an article right after Lee’s decision.
Defensive back Adrian Baker made the trip from Florida to the Buckeyes’ camp on Saturday with the goal of an Ohio State scholarship offer in mind. On Tuesday afternoon Baker spoke again with the Buckeyes and came away thinking an offer will be coming after he sends Ohio State his transcripts.
As mentioned, quarterback Kyle Allen was impressive at the Buckeyes’ Senior Advanced Camp. His star wide receiver teammate Mark Andrews, who the Bucks have offered, was not able to make it to the camp. But Andrews says he is definitely interested in Ohio State.
Huge news came on Wednesday afternoon as defensive lineman Michael Hill committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee and many others. After posting the commitment story I followed with a story on the impact of Hill’s commitment on Meyer’s 2013 recruiting class and the other prospects Meyer is recruiting.
On Thursday morning I posted a story breaking down where the Buckeyes’ are with their 2013 recruiting efforts. I looked at who they have commitments from and who they are continuing to pursue.
2014 defensive back D’Andre Payne made the trip for Washington D.C. to Columbus as part of a group that toured Midwest football camps. Payne did not work out at the Buckeyes’ camp, but he did enjoy his Ohio State visit.
It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. That is not going to change and the week begins here tomorrow with my Sunday feature. Tomorrow I will have the first edition of my my 2014 Ohio State Hot List.
