Boarding House: Friday Edition

**Safety Measures … On National Signing Day, the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Class of 2014 safety Cortez McDowell (Locust Grove, Ga./Locust Grove). That offer made over a dozen total for McDowell whose list includes Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida State. Not bad. McDowell says he is developing a good relationship with Buckeye assistant Everett Withers and he is definitely interested in Ohio State.

McDowell going to follow Bell plan?

But Buckeye fans shouldn’t expect McDowell to join the growing list of early Ohio State commitments. In fact, McDowell may be taking a page out of Vonn Bell’s book (a great read, by the way). McDowell says he plans to wait until National Signing Day to announce his college choice, “keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.”

Buckeye Nation knows the feeling, having been through it exactly one week ago with Bell. How’d that turn out again?

**Big Catches? … Last summer, Class of 2014 wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass from Springfield grabbed headlines when he blew up during camp season and was offered by Ohio State (sort of … it’s a long story). The immediate vibe was that made Snodgrass Ohio’s top receiver in the class.
