Jacobs called Meyer and gave him the good news on Thursday morning, and he also called Smith. Jacobs said Smith was “very excited” to get the good news and told Jacobs he had made his day.
For Smith it was a double win. Not only did Smith win being the coach that recruited Jacobs, but he also wins in being the position coach that Jacobs will play for. Many national recruiting analysts have said Smith recruited Jacobs harder than any other coach in the country.
