**Hunting Harvin … Yes, Urban Meyer was less than thrilled (he says) with what he found at Ohio State when it came to wide receivers. Meyer has softened his stance as his receivers have stepped up their game during fall practice. But he is still looking for big-time play-making wide receivers for his roster including a Percy Harvin type threat.
Johnnie Dixon (Palm Beach, Fla./Gardens) is a 2014 prospect Meyer has in mind to fill the role of dynamic wide receiver for the Buckeyes. In fact when Dixon called Meyer earlier this summer one thing he heard from the Buckeyes’ boss was that Meyer doesn’t currently have a player like him on the roster.
Is Dixon listening to Meyer’s pitch? You bet he is. In fact Dixon says he was a Meyer fan when Meyer was Florida’s head coach. Now Dixon doesn’t go as far as to say Ohio State is at the top of his list, but he says he is definitely interested.
Dixon is a 4-star prospect and the country’s No. 202 overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings. His list of scholarship offers includes Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Alabama. Not a bad list.
**Peer Reviews … Sensing a theme here? Yes, the current receivers have been questioned. But it sounds like that group is coming out of the doldrums and it will be sophomore Devin Smith, junior Philly Brown and senior Jake Stoneburner (a converted tight end) leading the way.
*Which two guys who should know offer praise about two receivers in particular?
*Mum's the word?
*The Mitchell report?
*There is some concern about one position group - sort of. Which one?
