**Commitable Corey? … Earlier this week, Bucknuts had the news Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith offered junior college wide receiver Corey Smith a scholarship. Some immediately began to wonder if the offer to the former Akron (Ohio) Buchtel star was … wait for it … a committable one. So we did some checking.

Our source tells us there is plenty of time for the Ohio State staff to decide whether or not to take a commitment, but for now Smith would not be able to commit. Smith has at least one class to take that will keep him from graduating at East Mississippi Junior College until May. The Buckeyes would not make Smith part of this class until they are sure he is going to get everything taken care of.

So the offer at this point is a safe one and the Ohio State staff can continue to evaluate where things stand with Smith as well as the other wide receivers they are pursuing for its Class of 2013 haul.

**Meyer And The D … Immediately after the embarrassing defensive performance against Indiana, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said he planned to get more involved with that side of the ball. Meyer somewhat backed off those statements on Monday, saying he wouldn’t be involved schematically, he just wanted to stress things such as playing relentlessly for 4-6 seconds each play. Well, we asked a couple defensive players just how active Meyer was with the defense this week in practice.
