Buckeyes are in early on Glover-Williams ... and it should not be surprising.
Our source – someone that had long been a part of the Ohio State football program – told us Hazell was the best teacher he had ever seen on a Buckeyes staff. At the time, Hazell was coaching wide receivers. The source went on to say he felt Hazell would in time get a head coaching job and also mentioned if Tressel stayed around long enough and Hazell had the success the source felt he would elsewhere as a head coach, Hazell would be a candidate to succeed Tressel as the boss of the Buckeyes.
Fast forward to today. Hazell went on to become a head coach (Kent State) and parlayed a very good job with the Golden Flashes into taking over at Purdue. Our source was certainly right in his evaluation of Hazell as a coach. Of course, Tressel left Ohio State earlier than anyone thought Hazell didn’t have the opportunity to succeed him. But we will likely call on that source again when it comes to evaluating Ohio State assistant coaches.
**Forward Thinking … Two things becoming readily apparent when it comes to Urban Meyer’s staff and its approach to recruiting: They get after it early. And if they want you, they are coming after you.
