Boarding House: Monday Edition

**Catching On? … Wide receiver Corey Smith (East Mississippi Junior College), a Mississippi State commitment, made an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend. Smith flew up to Ohio State on Friday and then was joined in Columbus on the visit by both of his parents, who live in the Akron area.

Smith, a former Akron Buchtel star, flew home on Sunday without having changed his commitment. But the Buckeyes could get a helping hand with Smith.

We are told by a very good source that Smith’s mother definitely wants her son to be a Buckeye and has told him of her preference. Will that be enough to put Smith over the top and “flip” to Ohio State? We don’t know for sure yet – but it certainly has to help.

There are others already on the roster – Doran Grant and Devin Smith – with ties to Corey Smith who want him to join the club.

But there are questions: Would the Ohio State staff have let him get off campus this past weekend if they really wanted him? Are there lingering eligibility issues, as we have heard?

Stay tuned …

**Coombs Untangles Webb … Cass Tech High in Detroit has long been known for its ties to Michigan. Think Glenville Pipeline to Ohio State … but hooked to a questionable landing spot. And it was thought by many that Cass Tech Class of 2014 defensive back Damon Webb would end up plying his trade in Ann Arbor, as well.
