Boarding House: Monday Edition

**Backup Plan? … Defensive end/outside linebacker Demetrius Cooper (Chicago, Ill./Julian) attended Friday Night Lights with approximately a dozen other Core 6 guys. Most of those players did not work out at that camp, including Cooper. Cooper says he was given the impression had he worked out he would likely have received a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes “on the spot.”

What is the word on Marcus Hall (left)?

However, Tyquan Lewis (Tarboro, N.C./Tarboro), who seems likely to decide in the next month or so between Ohio State and North Carolina, is the guy the OSU staff has targeted for the open defensive end/outside linebacker spot in its 2013 recruiting class. If Lewis were to commit to the Tar Heels the OSU staff could step up their efforts to land Cooper. But don’t look for that to happen as long as the Buckeyes are in the running for Lewis.

**Peers On Meyer … While in Chicago for Big Ten media days, we had a chance to ask three Big Ten head coaches about Urban Meyer taking over at Ohio State. Said coaches included Michigan’s Brady Hoke, Purdue’s Danny Hope and Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz.

*Did the guys play nice?

*Still fishing for an offer?

*One year wonder?

*Guarded optimism?
