**Capital Plan … Dating back to his days as the Florida Gators coach, Urban Meyer has had success recruiting Washington, D.C. and the state of Virginia. He hopes to do the same for the Buckeyes and has some big-time targets in mind for the Class of 2014. Meyer and Zach Smith, who recruits Virginia for the Buckeyes, are making their push for defensive end Da’Shawn Hand, defensive tackle Andrew Brown and safety Quin Blanding. All three are 5-star prospects offered early by the Buckeyes.

Aloha, Mr. Hand.
Hand, Brown and Blanding attend different high schools, but know each other. In fact, the three are friends and talk some about the possibility of attending the same college. They also have talked about perhaps attending the Ohio State-Michigan game. It is not set in stone at this point – but those three could be at the Buckeyes’ season finale.
**Weight Watchers … When we talked to Ohio State redshirt freshman defensive tackle Chris Carter on media day in early August, he proudly told us he had dropped 40 pounds from the previous season and currently weighed 355.
