Boarding House: Thursday Edition

**Nine Men Out …Urban Meyer was hired as Ohio State’s head football coach on Nov. 28. Since then, nine scholarship players originally expected to be members of the 2012 team have left the program.

Not everybody fits with the new staff ...

Linebacker/safety Chad Hagan was the latest departure, making his intentions known on Wednesday. It was discovered soon after Hagan committed to Ohio State that he had an irregular heartbeat. He also dealt with a series of injuries and was a ‘tweener (not fast enough to play safety, not big and physical enough to play linebacker).

A source informs us Hagan’s exit from the program has “nothing” to do with the medical ailment that was discovered while he was in high school.

As for the list of players that have bolted from the program in the last four months, you could field an entire baseball team: Safety Jeremy Cash, cornerback Dominic Clarke, fullback David Durham, cornerback Derjuan Gambrell, quarterback Taylor Graham, Hagan, linebacker Scott McVey and linebacker Jordan Whiting.

Also, here is a rundown of number changes and new numbers for early-enrolled freshmen:

* Freshman safety Tyvis Powell is No. 11.

* Freshman quarterback Cardale Jones is No. 12.

* Freshman outside linebacker Josh Perry is No. 15.

* Senior walk-on quarterback Ross Oltorik (who has rejoined the team after a stint playing baseball at the University of Arizona) is No. 19.

* Freshman running back Bri’onte Dunn is No. 25.

* Freshman offensive lineman Jacoby Boren is No. 50.

* Third-year sophomore offensive lineman Darryl Baldwin (who has moved from D-line) is No. 76.

* Senior offensive tackle Reid Fragel (who has moved from tight end) is No. 77.

* Freshman wide receiver Michael Thomas is No. 83.

**Who’s Staying, Going? … On the hoops front, we’re still hearing the same thing in regards to who stays and who goes ...

*But is there another name to watch as well?

*Which assistant coach could also be headed out?

*How many running backs will Urb take in the Class of 2013?

*What is the mold for targeted receivers?
