**Those Prospects Up North … The last couple of weeks before the college football season kicks off are typically a bit slow on the recruiting front as coaches are focused on their teams much more so than recruiting.

But that all changes this weekend as colleges across the country kick it off and coaches are allowed to contact recruits beginning Sept. 1.
And while there are some college football games tonight, the first game that really impacts Buckeye recruiting is in East Lansing on Friday night as Boise State takes on Michigan State. Expected to attend that game are the top two Class of 2014 prospects in the state of Michigan, defensive end Malik McDowell and defensive back Damon Webb. Urban Meyer is not backing off the top prospects in that state up north one bit including prospects at Detroit Cass Tech, a school considered a Michigan Wolverine “pipeline” school.
In the case of Webb and the other top prospects at Cass Tech, Brady Hoke is getting a two-fold challenge. Mark Dantonio recently landed a commitment from Cass Tech senior offensive tackle Dennis Finley that he hopes helps him with Webb and other Cass Tech prospects. While there are a number of other very good 2014 prospects at Cass Tech, Webb is the big prize. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, and odds are very good that he ends up at one of the three. Webb plans to hit games this season at all three schools and what should be an interesting and fierce battle begins in East Lansing tomorrow night.
And oh, by the way, Webb already has the Michigan at Ohio State game on his calendar as the one he will attend at the end of the season.
