Boarding House: Thursday Edition

**Johnny Rocket? … One of Urban Meyer’s 17 verbal commitments is punter Johnny Townsend (Orlando, Fla./Boone). As is often the case with punters and kickers, his pledge to the Buckeyes did not move the needle a great deal with Buckeye fans, and in the recruiting rankings. But according to Boone head coach Phil Ziglar, it should have. Ziglar raves about Townsend and what a difference he has made to the Boone team this season.

Johnny Townsend

Headed for hardware?

“He changes the field for us,” Ziglar said. “He puts the ball down perfectly. He has really helped our young defense. I would be surprised if anyone is doing a better job in the state. I’ve been coaching 23 years and he’s the best I’ve had – and I had Ryan Dougherty who went to East Carolina and was up for the Ray Guy Award.”

Jim Tressel would be quite happy with praise like that for a punter…

**Much Ado About Nothing? … Cardale Jones earned himself a one-game suspension for going on Twitter and complaining about the student part of the whole student-athlete approach. It was blood in the water for those who devour chum on the Internet for a living (don’t say it). One former college coach was not moved by the Tweet.
