Boarding House: Thursday Edition

**Pike’s Peak? … We checked in with our own eyes to get the latest on Class of 2014 tight end Devin Pike from Cincinnati Elder.

You might remember the name because his two older brothers, Tony and Doug, played for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Tony was a sixth-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers and is currently a free agent.

Devin Pike, at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, is arguably the best all-around tight end in Ohio and reminds onlookers of a Nick Vannett or Jeff Heuerman.

“Cincinnati, Louisville, Indiana, Ohio State, Akron, and Illinois are all sending me letters and showing interest,” Pike told 247Sports Cincy affiliate Bearcatlair.com about six weeks ago. Illinois just recently backed it up with the first offer for Pike, who has 25 receptions for 278 yards in seven games this season.

Will the Buckeyes follow suit? Although Urban Meyer is giving Heuerman rave reviews, touting him as the best blocking tight end he has ever had, is blocking really the M.O. for that spot in the Meyer/Herman offense?

The tight end Meyer has booked for the Class of 2013 is Riverside (Calif.) John W. North’s Marcus Baugh, the No. 3 rated tight end in the class and an Aaron Hernandez clone. It means Pike could be headed elsewhere where the mold is bigger.

Stay tuned …

**Action Jackson? … There are plenty of difference between Urb and former coach Jim Tressel. One is their interest level in players from Trotwood (Ohio) Madison outside Dayton.
