Seeing Scarlett? … Last week in the Boarding House we had an item about Class of 2014 running back Jalen Hurd. Multiple sources told us Hurd favors Ohio State. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Hurd is ranked as the country’s No. 2 running back and No. 10 overall prospect by 247Sports. Hurd’s offer list includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford and Tennessee.
The 5-foot-10, 197-pound Scarlett has an impressive list of early offers that includes Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
We went on to say that if the Buckeyes could perhaps land an early commitment from Hurd they could set their sights on landing Class of 2015 running back stalwart L.J. Scott from Hubbard, Ohio.
Well, Scott is not the only 2015 running back the staff could set their sights on if they land Hurd. The Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Jordan Scarlett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University School) during the middle of his sophomore season.
The 5-foot-10, 197-pound Scarlett has an impressive list of early offers that includes Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan State and Wisconsin. Scarlett has spoken with Urban Meyer and says Ohio State is a school he will look at. And yes, it would be cool to hear his name called running the ball for the Buckeyes.
**Secondary Options … Two years ago, Columbus Bishop Hartley’s Alonzo Saxton was being touted as Ohio’s best defensive back in the Class of 2014. Saxton started for Hartley as a freshman and was offered by Illinois, Purdue, Toledo, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Indiana, West Virginia and Bowling Green before the first game of his junior season.
