    • "Lack of Leadership" I was at the game Saturday night in Sun Life Stadium. And I am a past high school Def. Coor. who has been involved in coaching for thirty years. My observation in the second half was, that at a time when things were stalling on both sides of the ball, no one looked to be taking things into their own hands to shake things up on that Buckeye sideline. It looked literally like a NFL Sunday of players milling around, not communicating and uninspired... A coach, a player, someone needs to make others accountable and show some urgency in those times when the outcome of winning is on the line. All Seniors must step up. Be accountable...

    • Heck we don't even know if next year's head coach is on staff yet.

    • cdiddy, seriously? This is a Business. Right now, no OC or Coach is/was coming to OSU under this cloud. Nor could Fick have made a change or intimate a change before or during this season.

You have to think bigger than that and understand how this stuff works. This is business and things in business do not happen in the fantasy land of message boards.

Luke's hands are tied right now. If he gets and extension, he will almost certainly bring in a new Offensive staff with a few exceptions.

    • well, i guess we'll just have to wait and see how long it takes for luke to name braxton the starter (fingers crossed).

also, no surprise RE: lack of leadership. immediately after the sugar bowl, it seemed most likely that our captains would be some combo of brewster, pryor, boom, posey, adams, and possibly sweat. you just can't name a captain, who is supposed to provide an example for the younger players, who is already suspended for poor judgement. the comment about ohrian at media day was spot on. this season has been bizarre long before it began...

    • "Our source tells us it is because Fickell wants the offensive coordinator to be involved in the pursuit and does not believe next season’s OC is currently on the staff."

That's ok....next season's HEAD coach isn't on the staff either...

      BuckeyeSteves

    • fickell is in a pickel. he is the head coach but was not empowered to create his own coaching staff. he had to accept what was there. if he had been hired for 2-3 years and given the chance to replace staff members things would be different.

    • Why not give the QBs a big target like T. Williams at WR. I realize his "drops" are an issue, but Reed dropped a Quackerman pass against Miami and Fields doesn't seem to get "open." It can only help our QB's, who are struggling with confidence, to have a WR with a larger catch radius to throw to. Also, why not throw Graham in their for a series or two - he was the best QB in terms of "big plays" in the spring game.

    • Not sure about thew OCv comment. We have c jones and possibly jalin marshall on the recruiting board

    • I would be happy with the coaching staff looking like this next year.
HC- Luke Fickell – A true buckeye
OC/TE-Jeff Davidson – had a great offence in Carolina ex Ohio state player and will come to be with his son in Columbus
QB- Bobby Hoying – have heard he wants to get into coaching great Ohio state qb and played with fickell
RB/RC- Dick Tressel – one of the bright spots on the Ohio state offensive staff
WR- Stan Drayton – can recruit Florida and has had less than a year to work with the WR
OL- LeCharles Bentley – has coached high school players at his OL camps, great player, now can help our OL
GA- Michael George – has worked as a intern at ohio state and is now working at ohio university as a GA can help with OL and WR

DC/DL-Pepper Johnson – Ohio state player has coached 22 yrs. 12 yrs. for the great new England patriots and is ready to be a DC some where so why not at his Ohio state.
LB- Mike Vrable – great player great buckeye and have heard from players great coach
CB - Taver Johnson –has been great with CB
S/ST- Paul Haynes – has done well with Safeties
GA- Bobby Carpenter –I hate to say but his NFL career is coming to an end so why not come back and help at Ohio state

absolutely, as I watched college football on Sat. BEFORE our game, I noticed a QB throwing a ball to a point BEFORE the receiver even made a move, then when the receiver did make his move the ball was right there. Now I'm no college coach or anything so I can't say for sure but I'd bet those guys worked on that play in practices. Then the announcer said something like a " down and out pattern", my question to you is this, can we steal plays from other teams, I don't want no violations from the NCAA but that down and out play looked pretty good. Maybe there's more we could find and OUR guys could work on them in practice...

Bobby Hoying? Do we really want a QB coach who has never coached QB's?

I'd say Ohio State has been running a "down and out" pattern as a program since last December.

I put Jeff Davidson as the O-Line coach. Why not leave Peterson as the TE coach. The tight end position has been pretty decent since he took that over.

Ok, how about a come back route?

    • I would put Jeff at O line but with his son possibly coming in and playing OT that could create some controversy and he has experience coaching TE.

Why is this gibberish directed at me.
Of course I know that even if Luke were given carte blanche to name his staff, he couldn't of attracted anybody but unemployed friends this year.
I'm saying if he has plans on being here in the future he should have a short list already formulated of who he is targeting, and he should defn know what "style" he prefers.

and PS: to the poster that farted "Bobby Hoying" as QB coach. Can we stop with the former players who have never coached idea. This isn't your sons 7th grade team. Hoying has been involved in football for 10+ years.
The next person the floats a "Alonzo Spellman would be a mad crazy hire as DL coach" goes on my ignore list.

    • its been a rough stretch for the buckeyes lately and it may get worse. again everyone is looking for the quick change to turn it around and the truth is it may take some time. You lose 5 seniors for the first 5 games, 4 almost 4 year starters, there is your senior leadership. This is all going to take time to get sorted out and it will eventually. In the end everything will be fine, this team lots of young talent that needs to play to develop and they will this year. It happened Troy Smith's first year and that group turned out great and it was similar with Pryor's freshman season. This Freshman class is already showing how special it will be, i'm not sure if any other school has as many freshman playing as Ohio state does. You have Shazier, Bennett, Smith, Miller all showing they can play. This team will be fine and Fickell needs time to develop as a coach. He was a great Defensive coach just allow him to get going and he'll be fine.
