**Border War Continues …. Urban Meyer took over an Ohio State recruiting class that was a borderline Top 25 group nationally in late November. A spectacular two months of recruiting included Meyer convincing three top Ohioans - Se’Von Pittman, Kyle Dodson and Taylor Decker - to switch their commitments from other schools to Ohio State. It also included Meyer landing commitments from the top two juniors in the Buckeye State: Jalin Marshall and Cam Burrows.
The Hokester has a verbal commitment from Marlington's Dymonte Thomas.
But the border wars are anything but over. Neither Michigan coach Brady Hoke nor Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio are backing off one bit in the state of Ohio. On Monday, Hoke offered a scholarship to offensive lineman Evan Lisle from Centerville, a prospect the Buckeyes have not offered but are definitely interested in. Lisle attended the Buckeyes’ junior day on Jan. 29.
Hoke has already offered over a dozen Ohio juniors and has a commitment from one, defensive back Dymonte Thomas (whom Meyer is now pursuing. That okay with you, Bret?).
On the other hand, Dantonio has offered only about a half-dozen Ohio juniors to this point, but word is that number is about to rise significantly over the next couple of weeks. Dantonio got things started with an offer to defensive back Darian Hicks (Solon, Ohio/Solon), who visited Michigan State on Sunday.
Look for the next few months to be very interesting when it comes to Meyer, Hoke and Dantonio recruiting the state of Ohio.
**Dukes & Co.? …. Speaking of the Fighting Hokesters, when Michigan stopped by Marion Franklin and offered Class of 2013 wide receiver Jaron Dukes no one was surprised ...
*What is suprising about who Dukes could possibly bring with him?
*Early risers at the WHAC?
*Is there a shortage of Buckeye caliber offensive linemen among the Class of 2013 in Ohio ?
*What up with Gene these days?
