**Safety Measures … There is no doubt the Buckeyes’ No. 1 target at safety is Vonn Bell. Bell plays in the state championship game on Saturday and then will likely announce his college choice, Ohio State, Alabama or Tennessee, sometime next week. But what if Bell doesn’t pick the Buckeyes?
Is Redfield not an option?
Four-Star safety Max Redfield (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) has said he is interested in Ohio State, but the Buckeyes have not offered him a scholarship much to the consternation of some OSU fans who think Bell is not coming to Columbus.
Well, even though Redfield has said he is interested in the Buckeyes, according to a source close to him, Redfield has decided to move on because he doesn’t have an Ohio State offer.
“Yeah, they’ve recruited him,” the source said. “But he’s not going back there.”
In other words, Redfield has no plans to visit Ohio State. As to whether a Buckeye offer would change that now, the source doubted it would.
Bell is the country’s No. 2 safety prospect and Redfield No. 5 in the 247Sports rankings.
Perhaps the Bell is tolling for the Buckeyes…
**Back To The Well? … Former Ohio State assistant Darrell Hazell was so successful so quickly at Kent State he parlayed it into a Big Ten head coaching gig at Purdue. But now the Golden Flashes are in need of his replacement.
