During the summer offensive lineman Brady Taylor (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Ready) was hoping to land a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes. The offer did not come at that time, and Taylor with many other offers in his back pocket committed to Virginia Tech in late July.
Taylor becomes the fifth offensive lineman in the Buckeyes 2014 recruiting class.
However, a recent scholarship offer from the Buckeyes more than caught Taylor’s eye. He decided to make an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend and today has decided to commit to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
"Growing up I was always told to follow my dreams. I am officially committed to THE Ohio State University," Taylor said in a tweet.
Taylor made the short trip with his parents from the west side of Columbus to Ohio State on Friday, and today has fulfilled a dream of going to Ohio State as a Buckeye football player. After completing his visit on Sunday, Taylor and his mom visited with Meyer again this morning at Ohio State, and Taylor has decided he will stay close to home and play for OSU.
The 6-foot-5 and 275-pound Taylor played tackle as well as on the Silver Knights’ defensive line during his senior season. He says the Buckeyes plan to give him his first shot at offensive left-tackle.
In all Taylor said he had approximately 30 scholarship offers including Michigan State, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Pitt, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and Boston College before flipping to Ohio State.
The Ohio State coaches have wanted to sign five offensive linemen in their 2014 recruiting class and Taylor is No. 5 for Meyer. He also makes commitment No. 22 for a Meyer recruiting class that is expected to number at least 23 come National Signing Day.
Taylor is a part of an Ohio State recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 2 in the country in the 247Sports rankings. He is a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. Taylor is the country’s No. 44 offensive tackle and the No. 19 prospect in Ohio.
