Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

The week began on Sunday morning as I posted my Sunday feature which this past week was the first edition of my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds. With the Buckeyes having extended so many early scholarship offers, I am breaking my Offers & Odds down by positions. The first edition included quarterbacks and running backs.

What are the odds quarterback Malik Zaire ends up at Ohio State?

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had information on Urban Meyer perhaps going one-up on Nick Saban, a star running back who prefers the Buckeyes’ uniforms over Michigan’s uniforms, a top 2013 linebacker not worried about the outstanding group of 2012 linebackers Urban Meyer landed and more.

On Monday our annual Bucknuts 50 series arrived at the Top 5. Checking in at No. 5 was running back DeVeon Smith. On Wednesday we had No. 4 Dymonte Thomas followed by two Buckeye commitments Billy Price at No. 3 on Thursday and Cameron Burrows at No. 2 on Friday.

Meyer and his staff are searching the country far and wide for the best prospects they can find for the Ohio State program. About two weeks ago they offered a scholarship to Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland safety Vonn Bell and Bell says he is interested in visiting Ohio State.

Two-way lineman Pat Elflein signed with the Buckeyes at the beginning of February and is looking forward to the start of his Ohio State career. Gary Housteau featured Elflein on Tuesday afternoon.

The Buckeyes landed commitment No. 5 for their 2013 recruiting class when the top offensive lineman in the state of Ohio, Evan Lisle, announced on Tuesday that he had selected Ohio State.

The country’s No. 1 tight end prospect, Adam Breneman, made the trip from Pennsylvania to Ohio State to visit the Buckeyes this past week. Breneman was with his father and coach, and Breneman and his father came away very impressed.

Buckeye defensive back signee Devan Bogard received good news this past week when he found out he had achieved a high enough ACT score to qualify academically.

Meyer was very successful recruiting the state of Massachusetts for his 2012 class as he landed the top two prospects in that state this past recruiting season. Meyer is looking to strike gold again having offered a scholarship to offensive lineman John Montelus, the No. 2 class of 2013 prospect in Massachusetts.

It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. That is not going to change as we begin a new week tomorrow with my Sunday feature. This week it will be the second edition of my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds. Featured tomorrow will be wide receivers and tight ends.
