Buckeye Recruiting Week In Review

Our coverage began on Sunday with my Sunday feature which this past week was the latest edition on my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds. This past week I gave the Buckeyes’ odds on landing the quarterbacks and running backs they are pursuing.

On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had information on the Buckeyes’ offensive line recruiting including an offensive lineman that would love to be a Buckeye, information on a freshman quarterback the Bucks have already been in contact with, a very tough prospect the Buckeyes are going after and more.

On Monday afternoon the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to offensive tackle J.P. Vonashek from Georgia. Vonashek is talking about visiting Ohio State.

On Monday the Buckeyes also offered a scholarship to 2014 running back Derrell Scott from North Carolina. Scott called the Ohio State offer “big” and said he hopes to get up to Ohio State next month for one of the Buckeyes’ football camp sessions.

And speaking of 2014 prospects, the Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to sophomore quarterback William Crest and OSU assistant Zach Smith stopped at Baltimore (Md.) Dunbar on Tuesday to check on Crest. Crest says Ohio State is at the top of his list right now.

The Buckeyes have offered a scholarship to running back David Williams who says he plans to visit Ohio State sometime this summer. He also says Ohio State is one of the top schools on his list.

On Thursday morning I posted two stories on linebackers the Buckeyes have offered, Mike Mitchell and Yannick Ngakoue. Both are definitely interested in OSU. In fact both say they are planning to visit Ohio State.

5-Star defensive end Jonathan Allen had planned to visit Ohio State the weekend of May 12, but the visit was postponed. The good news is Allen says he still plans to visit OSU and will likely be in Columbus next month.

The Ohio State staff wants to add another tight end to their 2013 recruiting class and Buckeye assistant Tom Herman was in Texas a week ago checking out a talented prospect that is now on the Buckeyes’ radar screen.
