Our coverage began on Sunday with my Sunday feature which this past week was the latest edition on my 2013 Ohio State Offers & Odds.
Buckeye safety target Vonn Bell
This past week I gave the Buckeyes’ odds on landing the defensive backs they are pursuing. At the top of the list was safety Vonn Bell who recently made the trip up to Ohio State from Georgia.
On Monday morning I posted the latest edition of What I Am Hearing. In this edition I had word that Urban Meyer is looking to sign a punter and in fact one prospect has been told that landing a punter takes priority over offering another guard at this point. Other items included Brady Hoke and Michigan keeping tabs on Ohio State recruiting at the Buckeyes’ camps, a Florida cornerback who is a big Meyer fan and more.
The Buckeyes have a commitment from one running back in their 2013 recruiting class, but want two. One of their targets is Derrick Green and Green says he plans to visit Ohio State some Sunday this month or next.
On Tuesday the Buckeyes landed a commitment from punter Johnny Townsend who performed well at Alabama’s camp. Townsend had scholarship offers from Ohio State and Cincinnati and the Crimson Tide wanted him as a “preferred walk-on.”
Does taking a punter make sense considering the scholarship reductions the Ohio State program has to deal with? Bill Kurelic analyzed the situation right after Townsend committed to the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes are holding a big Senior Advanced Camp today and many top 2014 prospects will be in attendance including defensive tackle Khairi Clark who has made the trip up to Ohio State from Florida. Clark arrives with an already impressive list of scholarship offers that includes Miami, Florida, Florida State and LSU. It would certainly not be a surprise if the Buckeyes offer him this weekend.
Another star 2014 prospect that will work out at Ohio State today is quarterback Caleb Henderson. This week Henderson has camped at Illinois, Michigan State and Michigan. He has a growing list of a half dozen scholarship offers.
On Thursday afternoon Bucknuts had plenty of news from the first day of the Ohio State Two Day Position Camp. The news included offers going out to 2014 wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass, 2014 defensive back Quincy Wilson and plenty of “Tidbits” from the camp.
On Friday morning I previewed defensive back Marcus Ball’s visit to Ohio State. Ball said he would likely work out at the Buckeyes’ Senior Advanced Camp today and feels like he has a pretty good chance at a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.
On Friday there was plenty of news from the second day of the Ohio State Two Day Position Camp. The news included the Buckeyes offering a scholarship to 2014 defensive back Damon Webb as well as a “Tidbits” story on the camp and stories on 2014 linebacker Clifton Garrett and 2013 offensive lineman Dennis Finley who already had offers from the Buckeyes.
It was another very busy week for Buckeye recruiting and another very busy week here at Bucknuts.com. That is not going to change and the week begins here tomorrow with my Sunday feature. Tomorrow I will have another edition of my my 2013 Ohio State Hot List.
