It all comes down to what impact/input Marcus' Mother has on his final decision. She understandably would like for him to stay closer to home. However if he favors us and they truly objectively look at facts on the table he may wind up as a Buckeye. I certainly hope he does.

Sounds like Mama is going to make the call and it appears she plans to leverage the OSU offer to up the ante over ECU and get an offer from North Carolina or N.C. State. Can't say I blame her . . .she will save a lot on gas.

Great job Bill and good article. Some times parents have to let go and let their kids make their own decision. I have a son and I am from Ohio. I am a big time tOSU fan. I now stay in Colorado. And he loves tOSU. I told him I want him to to there, because I damn sure couldn't talk my daughter into it. She goes to CSU. He plays football and bball. I told him I want him to go there, but he didn't chose any school, but Mitchigean. LoL....Parents let go when their kids go to the Military. Sorry for the rant.

As a parent putting a kid into college next year, I am not convinced that Mama is going to tell him where to go or what to do. I think that is a bit of a stretch from what she said.
She said, and it is the same thing I am saying, is that he needs to take a good look at all his options. She obviously seems to be trying to ensure that he looks locally as well, but that is a far cry from making the call for him. I thought her comments re: tOSU were pretty good. I think we can also see that maybe ECU may have lost some ground during the visit.
I think we still have a good shot. There is a reason that he wasn't high on UNC or NCSU before, and in the end, I am not sure if they will actually be factors.

Some patents just don't want to see their kids go too far away. I've always hated that, let kids see the country and get away from what they know. I have a few friends whose parents wouldnt allow them to go away to school. There is nothing like learning about more places and seeing more new things. I hope he picks OSU but if he doesnt, I hope his mom doesn't force him to stay local. Let that young man grow up away from home if he wants. I know its hard to let go, but that's what 18 years of parenting is for. You should have taught him how to conduct himself and survive away from home.

At first I liked Marcus the best out of our lb prospects, however, I don't see the point in taking 5 lbs with our limited schollies, needs elsewhere (db, ol), and a string class coming in '13

I can understand where the mother is coming from, growing up in a close nit family and then all of a sudden moving several states away is no joke. You are so used to having access to ppl who love you unconditionally and then once you leave it's not like that. Sure you can call home but nothing beats being there in person. Also you have to consider that the world is not kind and there are some crooked people out here. Urban just needs to make him feel at home, and personally let moms know that he will be with family, his football family, and his personal interest and safety will always be Urban's concern.
