FRR: 'He's A Stud'

We're back with another must-listen edition of Front Row Radio. Today's guests and segments include:

* One-on-one with former record-setting Rice quarterback Chase Clement, whose offensive coordinator in college was none other than new Ohio State OC Tom Herman. Clement gives great insight on what Buckeye fans can expect from Herman.

* Bill Kurelic on OSU football recruiting. Yes, things couldn't be much better for the Buckeyes on that front. How much of an impact is Urban Meyer having on a scale of 1-10? Kurelic answers that and more.

* Canton McKinley head coach Ron Johnson on Se'Von Pittman flipping from Michigan State to Ohio State.

* A great interview with Urban Meyer from our media partners at 97.1 The Fan.

I know, loved that myself. I hope that's a staple of every radio/TV interview he does. "Go Bucks!" at the end.

  • I know Chase personally and he told me that Herman will analyze a team's defense over and over and over again and find the weak spots and exploit them.

Chase did put up some ridiculous numbers under Coach Herman. He threw for over 40 TD's and under 10 picks his senior year. He was Player of year in Conference USA, I think. Great player and even better person. Good insight.

I could not agree more. We needed to hear from him. We know he is hard at work, but I needed to hear from him.

I am super excited to hear news about the potential for an explosive offense. Sports are a lot about enjoying the scoring. Last year was rough. We deserve better.

One last note, I love to hear the song at the end.

I MUST go a little Bucknuts every day.

bengalbux is being modest. We have him to thank for helping set up the interview with Chase Clement. Thanks BB!

  • Fantastic show. All comments above are right on. But when he calls Fick "A man's Man!" and repeats that Fick will be calling the defensive plays and is a great football coach. Wow the chemistry and legacy that these two men will have on OSU Football are going to be amazing.

ONCE AGAIN ITS GREAT TO BE A BUCKEYE LIVING in michigan!!!!!!

I hope i run into Fred sucking down some food one day while I'm working in Ann Arbor. So i can look him in the eyes and say,,,,,

  • Im in LA and where I work I have a 350. Lb. Michigan fan I forgot how stupid there fans are . He always brags that they have a 13 game lead in the series.I point out to the Idiot we didnt beat them the first 17 times we played them late 1890s to 1917 or somthing and thats when they won 7 out of there 11 titles . After 1920 til preasent we have more National titles we have more Heismons More All Americans more players in the pros. They did absolutely dominate the first 20 years of collage football after that Ohio State is right there with ND,Alabama,Usc,Oklahoma,Texas. We have blown so many chances at more titles but now we got Urban!!!..

  • Fist time i have commented on any bucknuts board, but it has occurred to me reading/listening/watching over the last three weeks that OSU has the opportunity to do something few NCAA teams have EVER been able to do. With Herman we get the Big 12 type offense and with the Pontif, Fickell, and whomever else come in for DC, we will have an SEC style, if not exactly the same, defense. How many teams in NCAA can say they have potential to do this? Herman will use the incredible speed of the SEC type offense against them as he picks through vidoe and finds where that incredible speed will overrun the play, he will absolutely shred B1G defenses with his always moving offense. On the D-side, we will know what works well in the SEC for D-Line and LB's. Can you imagine the practice squad beign tutored to operate as an SEC type defense against Tom Herman. The team will only be better because of it. I AM DRINKING THE KOOL-AID FOLKS!!!!

    Hell yeah, Nice first post.

And yeah, I can't remember a better time then now being a buckeye in my life other then after winning the National Title. Granted I am only 31 so i suffered many of my early years under Cooper with his better talent but lack of big wins. There just seems like a big buzz now with Meyer as the HC. I don't think there was a better hire. There could be better coaches(maybe, but doubt it) but not a better hire. You get the ohio ties, you hear genuine stories about his early ties to tOSU and you get the recruiter and coaches that he is bring in.
