The rich get richer. Urban Meyer and his staff had commitments from four outstanding receiver prospects going into today. Meyer now has five as 4-star wide receiver Johnnie Dixon (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer) has committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Miami, Alabama, Florida State, North Carolina State, Arkansas and many others.
Dixon made his official visit to Ohio State in September when the Buckeyes played the Wisconsin Badgers.
Dixon, who narrowed his choices down to Ohio State, Miami, and Alabama, announced his decision to head north to the Buckeye State moments ago at his high school. He made official visits to Ohio State, Alabama, Miami, Arkansas and North Carolina State. His trip to Columbus was in late September, the weekend the Buckeyes played Wisconsin.
The 5-foot-10 and 187-pound Dixon helped lead Dwyer to a state championship this season. Meyer and Buckeye wide receiver coach Zach Smith helped seal the deal with a home-visit on Tuesday.
Dixon joins Curtis Samuel, Parris Campbell, Noah Brown and Terry McLaurin who are all either five or four star receiver prospects in Meyer’s 2014 recruiting class. With Dixon this group of five infuses the Ohio State program with tremendous speed and play making ability.
Dixon is commitment No. 19 for Meyer’s 2014 recruiting class, a class that is expected to number at least 22 come National Signing Day. It is an Ohio State recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 2 in the country in the 247Sports rankings.
Dixon is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 106 overall prospect. Dixon is the country’s No. 16 wide receiver and the No. 15 prospect in Florida.
Buckeye fans can see their newest commitment play on national television when he plays in the U.S. Army All American Bowl on Jan. 4 at the Alamodome in Texas.
