Hall Cleared; Coombs On Corners

Jordan Hall

This was the last time we saw Jordan Hall in action for the Buckeyes.

Jordan Hall has been medically cleared. Will he play this week? What does Stan Drayton think of Hall and the rest of the RBs? How does Kerry Coombs feel about his corners?

    • I thought Dunn looked good when he got the ball but watching the game recorded later on my DVR, you could see Meyer pull him off the field because he ran the wrong way on a hand off. You could see Meyer mouth "If you dont know it then get off the field". But I think Smith fumbled the hand off after that.

    • Good to see Hall get the all clear from the Docs. I imagine we won't see him until at least next week but who knows?

    • well on a positive note Dunn and Smith will see plenty of first team reps this week. I'm going on a ledge and predicting Rod Smith has a breakout game. I'm not saying 150 yards rushing, but something along the line of 10 carries 70yds and a TD. If it's not this week, when? C'mon Rod I've prove my gut feeling right!!

This what I'm hoping for.... I've been pulling for this guy since day 1 bigtime!

    • Yeah, watching live if was obvious Dunn was in the wrong spot and just about tackled Braxton. When Rod got his chance because if it, he put the ball on the ground. That's why UCF is on the schedule, though.

    • I would agree that our cornerbacks are making some big plays. I just think that there has to be a lack of confidence in their coverage skills or why would they consistently be giving wideouts 8-10 yd cushions. Whether it is warranted or not is up for debate, but if you think a guy can lock down a wr you don't play that far off.

    • Agree. I really hope Smith has a solid performance given the opportunity.

    • I wouldn't be too hard on the DB's coverage skills, we're playing more zone and less man coverage. The result is more INTs but more completions as well. The zone works great if you can get pressure on the passer however as we have all seen, it falls flat when the passer can pick and choose his target.

It's zone coverage... The philosophy is they'll have a better opportunity to react to the QB, in theory, when pressure is being put on by the pass rush. No pass rush, guys have to big of an area to cover...receivers sit down I open zones...

Meyer has to be more careful with his expressiveness on the field. Although a Bucknuts article quoted a "source" as saying that Dunn was taken out to avoid injury considering the health condition of our running backs, it's obvious from watching the game that this was not the case.

Meyer's lips are too easy to read. I LOVE Meyer's directness but, as you duly pointed out, he's getting easy to "read" on the field (Dunn, Vrabel, etc.) and savvy Bucknuts members are quick to point this out.

In any case, I'm happy with Dunn, who's going to be great but is clearly inexperienced, and Smith, who could have a breakout game on sheer talent as long he's not yanked from the game for fumbleitis.

You Bucknuts poster are a tough bunch and you're difficult to fool. Nice post.

Let me say first and foremost, I understand what you're saying and I somewhat agree, but I don't see that happening. Also, I don't mind him calling a few people out to be accountable, I remember Woody getting a tad emotional on the sidelines and he wasn't about to stop. I think that Urban has a certain level of execution by both the coaches and players and when someone doesn't put out , either mentally or physically, he's gonna let them know. And I am okay with that because we've all put him under the microscope and since he's in charge , well, someone's gotta answer.

    • i expect to see a lot of boren running the ball this week. seems like the coaching staff enjoys using him, he is a big boy and has shown that its tough to take him down. i would not be surprised if he had the most carries of the backs this weekend

Agree 100%...esp. with your last sentence...I think that you keep a clean program when you're up front with your feelings - good, bad or otherwise. There's never any confusion and you always know where you stand. The only time I don't think that's right is if the delivery is ill timed...

    • Remember when Griffin committed and we had a bunch of posters on the board that were heated about us wasting a scholarship for a legacy that would never see the field? ha.
