Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer and his seniors made a swing through Value City Arena at halftime of tonight’s basketball game against Missouri-Kansas City.
Meyer and the Buckeyes will be going for a perfect 12-0 season as they host rival Michigan on Saturday at noon (ABC national telecast).
Meyer addressed the raucous crowd at the Schott and also had senior captains Etienne Sabino and Zach Boren provide a few remarks as well. Check out video of their visit at the Schott above.
“On behalf of our football players and our coaching staff, I want to thank you for your support this season,” Meyer said. “So far it has been a heck of a year. Thank you so much.
“Last December, this group of players behind me were told they couldn’t go to a bowl game. They were also told they didn’t have to stay at The Ohio State University. They could have gone anywhere they wanted and not serve a penalty. We had a team meeting that day. When the team left, I kept the seniors behind. We told them if they stayed we would do everything we can in our power to make this a special year.
“This group of seniors did give us everything they had. And we’re one game away from not only a special season but this senior class can go down as one of the great senior classes in the history of Ohio State.”
Sabino, who returned to action last week at Wisconsin after missing four games with a broken leg, stepped forward and had a few comments as well.
“On behalf of these seniors, we want to tell you that we love you,” Sabino said. “We are truly blessed to be here and play for this great university. Go Bucks and Beat Blue!”
Boren then took the microphone and added, “We’ve been waiting a year to have a rematch with these guys, the Team Up North. We need your help to go out as champions and go 12-0. Go Bucks!”
And with that Meyer and his seniors retreated and headed off to join the rest of the team at the Blackwell Hotel.
