Remember Lou Holtz saying, after Woody was let go, that he didn't want to be the coach who followed Woody Hayes. He said he wanted to be the coach who followed the coach who followed Woody Hayes.
Great line, but never came to fruition for Holtz. Too bad really. He was a great football coach and motivator, who would have been fun to have around.

Technically they all go back to woody, because Earle was on woody's staff. I do not think that one was mentioned in there, I know for sure he was on the 68 and 69 staff, not sure how many other years he was there

I highly recommend a nice little book by Sally Pont (niece of John Pont) called Fields of Honor: The Golden Age of College Football and the Men Who Created It.
I tripped across a copy a few years back at the used bookstore in Linworth (the one in the old church). The cover has a picture of Woody being hoisted up on the shoulders of his Buckeyes so that naturally caught my eye. But it is a very nice history lesson that also addresses some of the innovation, creativity and change that accompanied some of the coaching greats that came out of Miami of Ohio.
