Practice Report: April 4

Carlos Hyde vs. freshman LB Luke Roberts

Ohio State's spring football practice reached the one-third point with the fifth of 15 practices on a sunny day Wednesday afternoon.

This was one of coach Urban Meyer's winner-loser days and the defense, behind a stop of tailback Rod Smith by Johnathan Hankins on the last play, won today's themed scrimmage. The theme was first down plays with the offense getting points for 4-yard gains (or more) and the defense getting points for stops inside 4 yards and turnovers.

The highlight for the offense was Braxton Miller's 45-yard touchdown pass to Corey "Philly" Brown.

But the defense also had a ton of moments, including forcing five fumbles in the 46-play scrimmage and also negative plays by Hankins and stellar DL John Simon.
