Ohio State practiced in full pads on Wednesday and three players had to leave the field early with injuries.
How did junior quarterback Braxton Miller look on Wednesday? Check out our Front Row thread and find out.
They were senior left guard Andrew Norwell, as well as freshmen defensive backs Cam Burrows and Jayme Thompson. None of the injuries appeared serious – but that’s just conjecture. All three players exited via cart. (UPDATE: Unfortunately, Thompson's injury is serious. Per the Toledo Blade, he has a broken ankle and will be out 3 months.)
It was a huge day for freshman Dontre Wilson, who the coaches might be grooming to be the No. 1 “hybrid.”
Another freshman who is going to play a lot this season is cornerback Gareon Conley. With Bradley Roby not running with the first-team due to disciplinary reasons, it was Conley who lined up as a starter opposite junior corner Doran Grant.
And that is just a taste of what we got at one of the few practices that will be open to the media this season. In fact, it might be only time an entire practice is opened this year. We’ll get 30-minute snippets here and there, but an entire practice being open is rare.
