    • Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, of course it is way too simple to be accepted without some really idiotic and long dragged out conversations with.....

      The BTN three choices of, same +1, Innie and Outie, or geopgraphical really gave us "some fine choosin options".

      Their poll was ludicrous in its design as it only offered one option worth selecting. Big Ten East - Big Ten West, so much easier to pick what they want when presented to us that way wasn't it?

    • Bax those allignments will never work. And everyone who keeps posting that they will ever split up scUM and MSU need to understand it will never happen. They have already split up scUM and tOSU which should show you and everyone what will happen to balance the two divisions. Also, their is no way they put their 3 most premier schools in the same division. Face it, MSU, Wisc and even to an extent Neb are not top dog programs. tOSU, scUM and PSU are all the 3 biggest names in the B10 and they will split them up in some way. Its not longer about "The Game" anymore. They powers that be want the B10 Title game to be "The Game". And the rest of this fan base either joins in that thinking or will be left to rot until enough time passes until you are in the small minority.

      In the end you will get new names and the same divisions just with Illinois moving over and Maryland and Rutgers sliding in.

    • Fine article,Bax. The Leaders and Legends were never embraced by anyone but Delaney(are we leaders or legends???). I am in the minority in this,but B1G is a terrible logo, imho. Have a Conference student in design come up with a better one.

      Apparently you skipped over the part where Matt states that UM and MSU would still play every year.

    • I love the East-West alignment set up, but I highly doubt that we will be at 14 teams 2 years from now, then do we just mess with the scheduling again? Tough position to be in right now.

    • I'm more excited about us going to 16 teams and having four divisions. Then you take the top two and let them play each other for the bttg.

    • Although I initially thought um should be in our division, I actually like the current format. I would keep them seperate until we reach the magic 20 with two ten team divisions. At that point, there will be almost no interdivision games and they will need to keep these teams together.

    • Awesome read. Leaders and Legends and BIG make me cringe. It is the worst name and logo in the history of college athletics. Also Gene Smith sucks!!!!!!!

    • I do agree with the East West split. I also would like to avoid back to back games against scUM. That said, this poll is a joke since it appears temporary in nature. The BIG probably wont even have a league with 14 teams. Meaning expansion will more than likely take place again prior to Maryland and Rutgers joining. So alignment will probably look different. Worst case it will be a short term thing. I expect at least 16 and possibly 20 teams in the conference. If that happens that may put a wrinkle in the OSU scUM split. Will there be 4 divisions or just 2? Who knows.

      I have no issue with OSU, scUM and PSU being in the same division. I think those teams should play each other every year anyway. That said, to imply PSU is heading the path of IU is wishful thinking and not going to happen. Those 3 will be the best teams in this league going forward and it wont be that close unless UN gets themselves a new Coach and makes some major inroads in new recruiting bases (see TX, AZ, Mizz, etc...).

      Should be fun to watch the expansion unfold.

    • If they ever do re-adjust the Divisons, one of them should be named The Baxendell a la the NHL. Nobody has been more critical of the current silliness than Bax. Nor has anyone offered better solutions to set the Divisions right -- with more logical geography, with better competitive balance and with historic rivalries preserved.

    • Great Article Bax! ONLY THING that matters to me is OSU and meatchicken should be in same division. One "GAME" a year is enough and will make it less special. Could you imagine having Thanksgiving 2 weeks in a row, or Christmas repeated a week later. There are some things you just do not do, and OSU vs meatchicken should NEVER be repeated a week later....just saying

    • I agree with your realignment except that I would prefer Michigan State in the East with UM and OSU and either Indiana or Purdue in the West.

      If, as expected, Georgia Tech and another Eastern school (e.g. Connecticut, Syracuse or Pitt) should join the Big Ten soon, I could forsee both new schools in the East and Purdue/Indiana and Michigan State moving to the West. I included Syracuse and Pitt as possibilities because they make far more sense in the Big Ten than the ACC, even though they are about to join the ACC.

      I also recommend that the same Divisions be used for Basketball.

    • Is there some un-written law that says you have to split up into different divisions? Why not just just play the games on your schedule and have the two best play for the title?
