Could not agree more with you about Thad Matta ! His three McDonalds All Americans (Scott, Williams and Ross) have not stepped up yet to expectations. On the other hand, they will probably be here for four years, unlike past seasons. Many people forget that his best recruits have gone to the NBA. Tough to be consistant.

As for taking a second QB, we would expect him to redshirt, no? If that's the case, then why the need? Why not just go after the one or two or three kids you want and take the best of the three that doesn't want to go elsewhere? Would you prefer to see a stud take the scholly every other year, and a journeyman on the off years? Or would we go after studs every year (my preference, but the depth chart could be a limitation).

Finally, what about the QB types that go through K-State or Northwestern? Those types wont be at the top of anybody's draft list, but they are very effective with less talent than they'd see at OSU. Anybody like that ever get an offer from Meyer, or do we only look at elite prospects from here on out?

In regards to the QB situation I think that Urban goes after the very best QB for his system every year but 2014 is not so critical since Bartett projects to be another Braxton. Jones is the wild card inasmuch as if he elects to bolt we will need two QBs in one year to balance out the numbers. I believe Urban wants to have four QBs in the program at any one time. Guiton is gone in 2014 and so to perhaps is Jones. If we don't get Watson in 2014 and Jones leaves we take two QBs and turn our attention to 2015 to get another stud. Of course while it would not be optimal Marshall could still be returned to QB in an emergency. Especially if we keep feeding the WR position as we did this year and apparently will again in 2014.

Woods is 5'8". I can't believe he is even an option at QB at OSU.

Meyer may be confident in J.T. Barrett but J.T Barrett is recovering from a major knee injury..Can the coaching staff take the risk of not recruiting a QB in 2014 unless the coaching is confident Barrett knee is 100%?..Even then OSU needs depth @ QB in 2014 IMO

Elite will stay if they are given an opportunity in each game. With running Qb's it is imperative that everyone is ready.
