I Wish We Played Michigan in Football Tomorrow

  • To listen and read stuff from scum fans lately is driving me crazy...you woulda thought they just won the national championship based on the reactions after national signing day...their o-line haul, on paper, and i stress, ON PAPER, looks strong...but guess what? only 5 can play at once, and last time i checked, o-lineman don't score touchdowns...plus, in my opinion, our d-line returnees (Spence, Washington, and Schutt) plus our in-bounds (Bosa, Sprinkle, Hill etc.) our as strong on paper as their o-line is... so, lets just say thats a wash (i thinks we're stronger, but whatever)...now, we return 4 starters from THE BEST O-LINE IN THE BIG 10 LAST YEAR!!! Did they forget about that!?!?!
Now, as for the skill players... let's just name names: returnees: Braxton Miller, Carlos Hyde, Roderick Smith, Philly Brown, Devin Smith, Evan Spencer...inbounds: Jalin Marshall, Dontre Wilson, James Clark, Ezekial Elliott, Marcus Baugh...And I"m not even gonna mention our Lb's (although i will: Shazier, Mitchell, and Johnson, not to mention the best secondary class in the nation: Apple, Burrows, Bell, etc)... Scum studs: incoming freshman rb Green... anybody else either returning or inbound, at any position that scares us? Anyone?... Anyone? didn't think so... God i wish we played scum tomorrow...and the next day... and the next day... we WOULD and ARE gonna kick the sh!t out of them...

  • Ah let them have their little brag fest. It's really all they have left. They have to brag during the off season cause they have nothing to brag about during football season.

  • I don't disagree at all with your post. We wi beat them good this year especially with brax having another year in the offense under his belt.

The only thing ill caution is while all these freshman you listed have great potential, they haven't played a down yet. They won't all be huge game changers this year. I think Marshall on offense and Johnson on defense will be biggest game changers as frosh. Bosa and Hill will likely play a bunch also mimicking spence and washigtons frosh year

When they start winning THE GAME with some regularity, just say "11-1".

Or better yet, just ignore them. At the moment they are beneath our notice; given the record over the last twelve years, Purdue is more of a rival than tsun.

  • I’m looking forward to THE GAME this coming year and for years to come. I think many of us take them too lightly based on the glorious JT years.
One thing would be fairly certain if we did play at Michigan tomorrow…Michigan would be the favorite.
Although I think the Buckeyes would win there is little doubt UM would be the favorite in Vegas.
This past game was played in Columbus and we were 4 point favorites. Home field advantage is worth 3 points. Had that game been played in Ann Arbor UM would have been a 2 point favorite. We won the game by 5 points which pretty much confirms the original point spread. UM then went on to a bowl game and lost by 5 which was the point spread. Thus neither the Buckeyes – UM game nor the Michigan – SC game did anything to materially impact expectations about how good Michigan or OSU is.
It’s pretty safe to say if we played UM the week after the bowl game in Ann Arbor they would be a 1-2 point favorite. Now we have graduated a better group of seniors than they did. We have 7 guys invited to the combine, I think UM had 1. Both schools return their starting QB although one might argue their QB may be expected to improve more given that he has much less starting experience than Brax.
We will probably start the season ranked around #5 and Michigan perhaps around #20…Vegas does not give a rat’s a$$ about the polls. By the time we actually play UM we could be the favorite if we mop up our competition prior to the game (something we didn't do in 12).
Nonetheless, if we were to play Michigan tomorrow as the thread subject says (and I am assuming the game is in UM since that’s where it is next scheduled to take place), they would be the favorite.

No way they are favored. We didn't lose a game, and beat them 4 months ago.

  • There is no way UM would be favored tomorrow... We won 26-21, but only got 3 field goals out of 4 trips inside the 20 in the 2nd half... They only got 2 first downs in the second half...we should've won that game by 3 td's... Their only threat to us was denard's feet, and he's gone... No way we're underdogs

It was colder in Columbus back on that Saturday in November than today... Don't u remember Hoke in shortsleeves with his fat nipples poking thru his 3xl shirt that was still booty-tight?

We only won by 5 points. Home field advantage is worth 3 points. If that was the only game Vegas looked at they would make UM a 1 point favorite if the game were played the next week at UM.

Buckeye fans can argue that if only we did better in the red zone we kill them, UM fans can argue if only they didn't turn the ball over 4 times they beat us...Vegas doesn't give a damn.

It won't take Vegas very long to realize that Meatchicken does not have a quarterback capable of winning against the better teams. Gardner is no more than an average qb with weak arm strength. Without the threat of Robinson in the game, good defenses will eat them up.

  • OSU finished 12-0 and Mich 8-5. While this wouldn't be the end all reason since it is a new season but I do think this would influence the Vegas spread a bit.

At this point my hunch Vegas would make OSU 4-5 pt favorite...

Wrong, they lost their biggest and maybe only play maker. Brax is getting better by the day. OSU would be a 6.5 favorite in the outhouse.

What? Home field is worth 3, we win by 5, and somehow you come up with scUM being favored by 1? You seem to be arguing with yourself, or were educated in the state of Michigan. LOL

    HuskerBuckeye

  • I hope Gardner does well this year, I expect him too. We need to see Um and others represent well to raise the appeal of the conference. Better regular seasons, better bowls and actually winning them will help with recruiting throughout the conference just as much as raising recruiting budjets and better efforts from Hc in the league. These next few years are critical considering the playoff format that is coming. In regards to the OP, I agree it would be nice to play them now, I see a competitive disadvantage though, just dont think UM has the talent level to keep pace with us at this point.

Home field is worth 3 points. If we are 5 points better at home, we would be just 2 points better on a neutral field; 1 point worse playing at Michigan.
