With the high school season complete, we have assembled the final update of the Bucknuts 50 list for 2013. Two OSU verbals (Jalin Marshall and Billy Price) top the list.

I know everybody wants to bag on Taco, but he did play welll this year for Picktown. So did Sprinkle, one spot is literally no difference, very tightly bunched and a lot of tough calls across the board.

  • The light came on for Taco Charlton his senior year. He is a freakish edge athlete.

If you really need a reason to hang your hat on, Charlton is a DE, Sprinkle is a DT.. DE's that get to the QB are usually more valuable that inside players.

I watched him play every play, every game, No, he did'nt play well. Many of those "104" tackles were really assists and/or 10 yards down field.

  • This article is strongly lacking because it does not even try to explain why there was such upward/downward movement of virtually all of the prospects.

  • Are the national rankings updated. Burrows is 41st nationally, which is highest of any kid from Ohio, but he is ranked 6th in Ohio. Are your rankings based on performance and the national rankings based on potential?

  • Taco's senior film.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's too bad there's not room for two QBs in OSU's class because I think Mitch Trubisky is going to tear up the world at North Carolina. I love getting JT Barrett too. So, it's flat-out greed on my part, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want Trubisky to be a Buckeye. And I know for a fact he would have committed to OSU if he ever received a "commitable" offer.

  • I love how down people are on Charlton. I read from many guys who have scouted him this year he was dominant. I could have swore he had like 17 sacks. I am a Buckeye fan but I am not gonna dog a great prospect because of where he is going. You can't teach that frame and athleticism and now it seems like he may have put it together on the field as well.

I grabbed the most recent 247 update. Not sure when they last moved guys around. Those are generated by their staff and these are done by Bill and Mark here in Ohio. Not saying one knows more than the other. I think the top six on that list are so close you could probably draw them out of a hat (well, after Marshall).

If you want any proof, watch that Reg Semi Game against St Iggy. Dude was In-Sane!

I don't think there were a lot of real wild swings ....

But I will share my 2 cents on some of them and I'd invite Mark and Bill to do the same when they get a chance.

Price 5th to 2nd, I know Mark gets to see him a lot in that neck of the woods. He was the one who lobbied for that move. I would trust that.

Conley 17th to 4th, he simply had a MONSTER senior year against great competition week in and week out. He is a quick twitch athlete who could be a star at WR or CB at the college level. In one game he had 3 TD catches and one 78-yard INT return for a touchdown.

Burrows, 2nd to 6th, not a huge drop but a small one. I watched them play 2 games on TV and never saw or heard his name called. My assumption is the other team knew his rep and like Shawn Springs years ago they never tested him. Springs never had many tackles or INTs, he just did his job. Maybe the same principle applies here. Mark may have a thought on that.

Trubisky 14th to 8th, wow, what a year and very deserving Mr. Football. Hope this one doesn't come back to bite. He may flourish under Fedora at UNC.

Lee 20th to 12th, he had a great senior year and was the driving force (kind of like Miller for OSU) for New Albany to make D-II state semis. The regional semi was his personal highlight reel: In his team’s 32-30 win over Columbus Marion-Franklin in the Division II regional finals, Lee had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown, threw two touchdown passes, ran 36 yards for a touchdown and, just for good measure, intercepted a pass in the final minute to ice it.

The national guys don't know enough about this guy. He is a sleeper, IMO.

Charlton, 19th to 15th, light bulb came on and he had a great year.

Sprinkle to have 19 sacks, though, was also a huge impact guy as well. We'll get to see who ends up as the better college player.

Thompson 13th to 18th, I can't say anything to justify this other than, like Burrows, I watched 2 games on TV and really did not notice him. I think he had 3 tackles in the state title game. Probably was just doing his job. I don't consider this a MAJOR drop by any means. Sounds like he's going to be a nice player.

Kilgore, 39th to 19th, and he only played 4 games. My guess is Mark heard from a college or HS coach how he has a huge upside and moved him on that basis.

McCray, 15th to 20th, honestly can't say. I think he had a good year.

So that's my 2 cents on most of the big movers. Mark or Bill may have more to add or tell me I'm full of crap (ha ha).

I agree. he absolutely toyed with the two best teams in the state up to the time when he played them. being ignatius and ed's. what he did to those two teams back to back will probably never be done again.

  • So is this list who is the best high-school player or who is the best prospect? Is there any way we could get links to past lists?

    JDgopher

  • The Buckeyes got 9 and scUM got 8. Our 9 are in the top 18 and ttun only had 4 in the top 18.
