Thanks for sharing doc. What a great story and thanks for taking the time to listen to a veteran and buckeye I'm sure it helped him through the last few weeks of his life.

Great story...this is what makes Bucknuts so great. I used to work with Fritz's son (Maury's nephew). Fantastic guy.

I love this post.

This brought a tear to my eye. I am always truly humbled to hear insparational stories such as this. Im 30 years old and try every day to be the best father, husband and struggling small business owner that I can be because of great people like Maury, my grandparents and parents and the sacrifices that they have made for this country and our freedoms. Thank you for sharing this story, it makes me want to be better in every way and earn the respect of the Maury's of the world.

First, I am glad that Maury's story struck a nerve with so many of you. I loved the comments. Obviously we have Bucks of all ages represented, which got me thinking. I thought Maury's time at OSU was so cool because of the time frame he was there- especially the Snow Bowl and Woody taking over. This got me thinking about what might make a cool thread. I will kick it off and title it "Timeline of OSU Memories".

I'm too old to feel the wetness in my eyes you've caused...but I surely appreciate your story...My earliest recollection was at the ' 54 Wisconsin game when Hoppy led the Bucks to a big win and on to a National championship. It's still nice to hear great stories like this...glad you took the time to let us in on it! Doc in SoCal

yes, the greatest gift you can give someone in their final days is to let them be heard and tell their stories. What a gift you gave him. Thanks for sharing the story. It is hard to explain the bond, and maybe all schools have it. But I doubt it.
