great column,thanks Coach Tressel
The best coach we ever have had.
gotta wipe the tears from my eyes.
Great work Bax! It still befuddles me that so many (I'm talking to you Bruce Hooley you incessant douchebag) want to disparage JT's accomplishments and question his place in Buckeye lore. You listed the mans accomplishments and they are great and many. OSU was brought back to national relevance under JT and for me (I was 3 when Woody left the program so while I understand the history of our great football program) JT is the greatest Buckeye HC of all time. Hi name should be right next to Woodys in Ohio Stadium! Again, thanks for the excellent writing Bax and thnk you Coach Tress for 10 of the best years of my life! God bless all of those past and present who have served in the military so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today!
I would say that you have to give credit to the 2007 class for the 2010 season. Heyward, Rolle, Sanz, Hines, Browning, etc.
Great work! Truly a great man sad it had to end that way.
agree on all points...very well thought out and written article.
Thanks Brax....... Tenfold .... you're not the only one with Tears... Love you Coach Tressel, you are always in our hearts!

Great follow up piece Bax, I thought something like this would surface shortly after his resignation but I am glad it came on the one year anniversary. what a true loss buckeye nation sustained when JT resigned. The only component you left out was the Mo C controversy. I bring this up because E$pin and other media outlets showed up like gang busters on campus only to leave a few shreds of weak evidence by a very talented and troubled young man. The fact that Andy G didnt invite them back for gameday was huge and one of the highlights in the ongoing fued between OSU and that awful four letter network. Despite what turfgreens thinks, you dont open your facilities to enemies like espn after they try to undermine your entire operation. The fact that tressel was close to the vest (no pun intended) with information does not justify the overblown investigation into selling trinkets for $. I thoroughly enjoyed when he would list things like who got special teams player of the game during his press conferences. He was calmly in control at all times and I loved it. Yes, he made a huge mistake and it cost him dearly. I was Buckeye born and I've been Buckeye bred, and when I'm gone I'll be Buckeye Dead!
Outstanding piece - I feel as if you took the feelings I have and eloquently shared them! JT is a hero to tOSU and time will show he DID do it the right way. I know that he had blind spots, but don't we all. In fact, I believe that he was caught in a media fight between ESPiN and Fox (BTN) and became the fall guy for ESPiN to attack so they could build up their beloved SEC (surprise! They hold TV rights for that conference) ! Net, time heals wounds and the past becomes clearer... And in this case, JT is revered for what he did academically, in the community and on the field of play!
Sincere THANKS for an excellent 'memorial' article !! GO BUCKS
Honestly, the coolest thing the Buckeye Nation could do is uniformly boycott ESPN until they publicly apologize for the way they did JT. Also, to hell with Gee and Smith for selling out! It is disgusting. I am surprised that such a large fan base has been so quick to let him go. Writing a few words on a forum in memoriam is not enough! I don't know exactly how to hurt ESPN but I am sure that collectively as 1 million strong we could figure something out. Suggestions?
Great story Bax. I agree with every word of it.
Want my soul to feel brand new like a fresh coat of paint, we can make it anything but blue anything but blue
It was a our greatest era. It deserved a great send off. Thank you, Bax, for writing it. I suggest you use this story as the outline for a book.
Thanks, Bax! Great conclussion to your story on Tressel! Enjoy your holiday.
Wow! Great story! I will always believe that there was more to this story than was ever told. Tress being the class act he always was, just shut up and bit the bullett.
He will always be fondly remembered in my book, and as others said, history will eventually vindicate him.
Tressel was the best! I think Urban might do great things here but I wouldn't have trade JT for him or anyone else.
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
I agree with BALLJACK and also with SarBuck...
if the entire Buckeye Nation stopped watching ESPiN their ratings would have a noticeable drop.
