Bama and Georgia meet in two weeks, guess what, one of them loses.
OSU at #3, especially if we close the last month of the season winning at Penn State, at Wisconsin and over Michigan.
Nebraska is going to finish 11-2 most likely and off the the Rose Bowl, and we beat them by 25. Central Florida should end 9-3, and we won at top 15 MSU on the road.
Still, that is a solid schedule to go 12-0, you have to admit that at some point, especially road wins at MSU, at PSU and at Wisconsin.
If SC could upset Notre Dame, we could be at#2 before the bowls start.

  • Georgia being ahead of Oregon is ridiculous. Did people forget about the ass whooping the Gamecocks put on them?

    Systems_id

  • Georgia ahead of us - what a joke. Lousy schedule in the weak SEC East, 35-7 beat down vs. South Carolina. This will work itself out. Would be great if Tech knocks them off and they upset Bama. That's unlikely but you never know....

  • Georgia beat the dog shit out of Florida who is better than any team we've faced all year... Just kill the HATE for a second and come to the realization that we have played a schedule like the 2011 scUM wolverines. It sucks but it's true! Georgia, Florida, and LSU would all win this conference going away... South Carolina and Texas A&M are more talented than anyone in this conference with maybe the exception of OSU as well. Tell me a Big10 roster you would take over any of those schools. That's just it, you can't. We'll see when the bowl games roll around and all the SEC teams house the Big10 teams they play.

    Horseshit.

Florida has struggled WAY too many times with inferior opponents for me to think that a Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or even a Penn State wouldn't be able to knock them off. Same with South Carolina, LSU, and Georgia. Alabama looked god tier until they had to play LSU and A&M back to back weeks. The SEC is far closer to the B1G than most would like to admit.

  • Georgia's the most overrated team in the top 10. They played 2 teams with a pulse. They got killed by one of them and the only reason they beat Florida was because Florida turned the ball over every other possession. They have no business being #3.

  • It's a bad year for college football when Notre Dame is the unanimous #1. Come on, they are just not that good. Yes, they are undefeated and bowl eligible, so I guess their ranking is deserved for that reason alone. But they are not very good.

Who is if we're going to play that game? Alabama's only played two good teams, lost to one of them, and should of lost to both. Every team either has an ugly loss or is skating by.

  • we are NOT going to end up 1 under any circumstances. the ap is not going to put a team on probation whose ineligible for their conf. champ. game and doesn't get tested in a bowl game in the 1 spot. ain't gonna happen. whoever wins the title game will be 1.

  • We will finish #3 at the highest. I don't agree with it (I think we should finish #2) but that's how it'll end up....just more motivation for this team for 2013.

Total BS. But it's not losing so much as when you lose. Look at us in 2007.

WOW! nailed it right on the head. This OSU team is this years ND team. i dont get how people can say ND is number one when they played just as bad vs teams OSU played and barely won. they have had closer games then osu and i think the strength of there schedual is not all that strong since usc is god awful and oklahoma is not near what they should be. so to say OSU is not right there with ND is terrible judgment. OSU beats Shitigan by 3 TD then i say put OSU top 2. ND barely beat scum AT HOME

With all the college football mathematicians crunching numbers...Does Ohio State really pass the "eye test" as national champion contender?..

Love the Bucks but we could not beat Alabama or Georgia this year

    Blitzbrick

  • I'm not a fan of the "eye test". That's basically saying whoever has the most talent should be ranked higher. Teams need to be penalized for losing. Simple as that. If you dominate 11 out of 12 games but lose 1, you should be ranked below a team that is 12-0 but barely won half of their games.

    wojodta

  • I'm not saying they would definitely beat Bama or Georgia. But they definitely could beat them. From what I saw yesterday, no one's invincible. Georgia's slightly above average. That's it.

Penn State lost to Virginia and OHIO! Michigan struggled with Air Force! Wisconsin struggled with Utah State, UTEP, and Northern Iowa. Nebraska has been the only consistently good team in this conference this year and it shows in the rankings. They've lost 2 games to 2 better teams. But if you want to convince me they are better than Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, and TAMU, forget it because you can't. They aren't very impressive either.

Save the "they struggled with" arguments because THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY struggled with Indiana, Purdue, Cal and UAB... I don't see anyone talking about how we struggled with inferior teams. You guys are just talking about the fact that WE WON those games which is all that matters! Don't use the "they struggled and looked bad" argument if you aren't going to do it across the board. There is a reason why the SEC has won 6 straight National Titles... Until they are beaten in big games, no one cares about anything else.
