Alex Kozan

  • Has anyone else noticed that Alex Kozan hasn't signed with anyone yet? I think there is a rumor that he may yet get a look from OSU and Meyer. This may have something to do with the fact that Urban isn't pleased with Carter and Brown and he thinks they may not make it to spring training. There is talk that Carter thinks his weight is good at 370, but the staff may not think so and may want him to drip another 40 lbs. This may happen, you never know but I find it odd that Kozan is still out there uncommitted, don't you? Urban and staff may want to take the talent upgrade now with a kid who has excellent grades and rated much higher.

I say take him. He's an obvious upgrade and unlike Carter isn't fighting with the staff..."Yeah, I can play at 380lbs! Just gimme a chance!" To quote Ochocinco "Child Please! Kiss the baby!"

  • On the fence about this one. With the limited scholarships next season, would it be better to save it for a 2013 prospect? Wouldn't be mad if they do try and bring him in, though.

  • Sorry we don't need him at this point because we had 2 positions changes to help out at ot then we brought in 2 ot and 3interior lineman so 7 total new o lineman to go with what we had means its not a huge shortage anymore. I say give it to a sr walk-on and use it next year to sure up the new biggest problem db. No really good young safety. Barnett and Bryant are jr now and look who we have behind them 2 sr who no one has a lot of faith in. We also have a 5 cb which is pretty thin considering one might be a safety and two have no game exp.

  • I'm mixed on this one. One one hand, I would like to save the schollie for 2013. On the other hand, our o-line depth is absolutely atrocious. I say f'it, lets get him Corch!!

  • This one is a tough call for me...i agree you can never have too many Oline..... but at this point....I think it might be better to go after a 2013 5 star WR or OL......if we can get a better prospect in this class..i say wait.....but...at the same time...this kid had his chance to sign....lets be honest.....you cant wait forever....

I am as well. As we speak I think we sit at 15 schollies for next year? That makes me think bank it. However, if carter and brown are highly unlikely to make it you may want to bring him in. It's a touch call.

  • It is odd that he's not committed anywhere. I wonder if he regrets not taking the schollie when he had the chance, or wether our staff has kept in touch. I'd like to see him get an offer. He's probably physically more ready to play than Boren or Elflien if we needed him in a pinch. I'd love to see at least one of Brown or Carter make it and contribute, but it sounds iffy. If those guys are good as gone, we could use another blue chip int o-lineman. Getting one this year, getting him in the pipeline and developing would be huge for our NC run in 13.

If you're going to do it the time is now. Plus Kozan is a very highly ranked guard who could probably play RT in a pinch. I like this picture of Kozan next to Dodson. Click the link then click view all 8 photo's, there's a picture of Dodson and Kozan at Wisconsins practice facility. Alex is a big 6'4 if Dodson is 6'6 or taller.

  • It's definitely a confusin situation. He basically begged for his offer, then sat on it. Then, we could always use good linemen, but we could also use an extra scholly for this year.

That's why Urban is payed the big bucks haha

    murphy66245811

  • I live in Colorado and have seen him play. He is very athletic and aggresive on the field. He would be a major upgrade over some of our current lineman. You can never have enough depth at O line. If we are going to make a run at a NC in 2013 then getting a deep, experienced line will be critical. Kozan would fit well. Also he fits the good character model that Urban is also looking for in kids. You would not hear about him in any negitive way off the field.

    wnybuckeye

  • Take Him If you can still get him .He has to be more athletic than half of this years 2 deep. Carter @ 380 Please restock the shelves.

I have been suspicious about Kozan for a while.

One thing I would have done if I was him though. I would have committed to SCUM then held out. That way my not signing with them, actually hurt the team the buckeyes want to hurt.

I was just reading the Detroit newspapers and it appears that while he verbalized to Iowa, they then lost their OL coach to the Miami Dolphins. His other concerns have been the depth of the 2012 recriuiting classes at both Michigan and Auburn his other 2 choices. Apparently scUM is willing to sign him and probably make a center out of him even with the depth they recruited OL this year.

Do we want him for us, or against us? That is the question??? I like the center ideal considering the thiness of the OL this year.

I am sure Urban and staff are all on top of this, and know exactly how they feel about Kozan. The rest is just up to us that have nothing else to do, but, blog about it...ha ha ha....yea, i know, get a life..............(P.S.- it is a GREAT time to be a Buckeye fan, and has made a very good February for me)
