How would you rank the 2012 season Ohio State games? I'm only going to do a top 5:
1.) Home vs. Purdue- I know it was a down-to-the-wire game with a sh*tty team but it felt like the '02 season all over again. I don't like Purdue. I don't like that they've upset us too many times over the past decade. I don't like their dipsh*t fans chanting "1-2-3-4, first down, bitch!" every time they move the chains. It's trash like that who make it difficult for some parents to take their kids to games. I also can't stand Danny Hope. I don't like his stupid mustache. I especially don't like the way he acted like a hardass when they won in 2009 and said "get used to it." What a freaking punk. I will love Kenny Guiton til the day I die because of this game. Just about everyone had the feeling we were going to lose when Braxton got injured. Kenny put the team on his shoulders and led them to victory in a dramatic fashion. He had help from fellow unsung heroes Chris Fields and Jeff Heuerman, who really stepped up to bring home the bacon. The last minute and ensuing overtime of that game showed just a great complete team effort. Helluva game.
2.) Home vs. Meatchicken- Any time you can beat those d-bags from up North, it's a great season. It's doubly cool when we beat them in a close game. That's not to say I don't like it when we just take them behind the wood shed, but come on. Admit it. 2002, 2005, 2006, and this season were a lot more fun because it was a fight to the finish and truly represented the spirit of the biggest rivalry in sports. I would've rated this particular game #1 if there weren't a ton of stupid mistakes. It really shouldn't have been as close as it was.
3.) At Wisconsin- I hate Bret Bielema. I hate Wisconsin's obnoxious and drunk fan base. Beating that team gives me great joy because it's still fresh on my mind that they wrecked near perfect seasons in 2003 and 2010. Seriously, F the badgers. I hope they replace Bielema with another easy-to-hate D bag. This game was particularly awesome because not only did we win it in a close, classic cliffhanger overtime battle, but also, the goal line stand that kept Montee Ball from owning the NCAA record for most career touchdowns in his final home game was one of the happiest moments of my life. When I saw Shazier knock that ball out of his hands short of the goal line, I just about pissed myself in jubilation.
4.) At Penn State- I remember when Matt McLovin threw his arms up in the air in the classic "Bring it" gesture towards our fans and defense at the Shoe a few years back. I've hated the bastard ever since. I hate PSU for their delusional fans. I hate them for beating us in '05 and '08. What really made me want this win more than most was the fact that I watched it in a Penn State fan's house, with a split company party of Ohio State and Penn State fans. This was during the winning streak O'Brien had going, and every other dude on the Front Row was saying, "I don't know man. There's something about PSU that just scares me..." or "I've got a bad feeling about this game." I'll admit, hearing all of that negativity had me worried too. But when the Buckeyes ran away with it late in the game, I made sure to piss off my hosts (within reason).
5.) At. MSU- I've always liked Mark Dantonio. He was one of the biggest reasons we won a NC back in '02. However, I don't like that he lacked the integrity to bench a player he knew was hurt (William Gholston and a pretty obvious concussion). I also wish that for that day only, I could've been a ghost at their stadium, capable of transcending the physical limitations of aparitionhood; this way I could go up to all of those M-Fers chanting "He's a pussy!" at Braxton (when he got injured out of bounds), and bitch slap every last one of them. This was a tight game and seeing the Braxton to Devin connection win another big game was super sweet.
Honorable mention- Home vs. Nebraska- It was fun setting the "blackshirts" back a decade. No disrespect to Bo. But I loved watching our boys blow this one out the water.
What about the rest of you guys? Which games were your favorites?
