Amir Williams>Evan Ravenal

  • Is Matta Blind. I seen more from Amir Williams in the 3 minutes he played tonight than i have seen from Ravenal in the past 3 games. Im so sick of these coaches taking half a season to realize what we already know. And Don't give me that the coach knows more than me and we dont get to see the practices. During this football season I got the same arguement about Bauserman starting,Devin Smith and Shazier not starting. These coaches seem reluctant to play true freshmen in vital roles unless necessary because they think they will make mistakes that will kill them.

Welcome urban Meyer. No more recruiting to redshirt you and have you ride the pine because another player has senoirity. The best players will play.

  • Yes he s blind. What gets me is that he said he plays according to matchups. he put in amir against a no post presence Minn team but not against Michigan St who killed up inside the paint.

  • Amir is at least a game changer when he's in there, blocks shots, changes shots, tons of little things that may not show up in stat sheets, but domshow up in the win column. I haven beef with Ravenel, just give more minutes to the Frosh!

    Yep.
Not so sure Williams does not deserve a few of Thomas's minutes as well. Every game he has been in, including at Kansas and at IU, Williams rebounded, blocked shots, scored and had offensive rebounds as well.

  • dont get me started about Matta

  • Ravenel is good kid and a solid player but Williams NEEDS to be in more. Needs to.

  • No argument here. When I saw Williams swat that ball away I jumped out of my chair. He needs to be seeing Ravenel's minutes or splitting minutes with him at worst, especially when Thomas has games like this where isn't doing much.

  • Amirs not only better, he is taller, longer and has a much higher upside.

  • At some point you have to think other coaches will start using this against us in the recruiting game. You see kids that are McDonald's All Americans at other big time programs get plenty if playing time. But it seems that's not the case here. What happens if their is a season ending injury to one our starters God forbid?

  • Ravenel doesn't really do anything while he's in there except foul. I can understand why Williams would be upset and I would transfer too if I was getting crap minutes. I don't understand Matta's philosophy sometimes. Williams is clearly the better player and much, much more productive when he's in.

  • i think have have very clearly seen what ravenel is as a player and what his ceiling is. we have no idea what amir's ceiling is. i'd like to find out.

  • Ravenal may be a good kid, but I want good basketball players getting the minutes. Sorry if that sounds rude but its just the way it is. Ravenal is a Buckeye and I will cheer for him, but Williams is by far the better player and deserves minutes. Thad Matta has gotten us a lot of victories and Big Ten championships but I have to go against his judgement and say he needs to reevaluate his thinking on playing Ravenal over Williams

I agree OSU would be great defensively with Sully and Amir on the floor with Thomas. Williams is a legitimate shot blocker.

    BINGO
They are missing Lauderdale more than we think this year. That is how we got crushed in the MSU game.
They keep going to the bucket knowing that there was no Lauderdale to BLOCK the ball.
Sullinger has a 6" Vertical Leap. He CANT BLOCK a shot. He CANT JUMP.
We dont have a shot blocker unless Amir Williams is in the game. Matta needs to play Williams more for Defense, and he needs to bring in Ross for Offense. Why would he not bring in Ross when the team is shooting 26& Try it why not?
Matta is getting outcoached lately by his own ego, and I hate saying that. He is getting to be like Tressel.
He needs to trust his players and let them play.

  • I would like to see Amir start just to see what happens with Sullinger at the 4, with Thomas and Ravenel
off the bench, don't know if that would be better but defensively it would take pressure off of Sullinger and allow him not to be so vulnerable to fouls around the basket, and allow Amir to be the force at the rim , allowing Sullinger to step out a little more from time to time. The problem is Thomas is a scorer but his over all game is lacking for sure. And why not allow Thomas from time to time play the three he is a great scorer around the basket and it would set up some big time mismatches. His ball handling does scare me to death, almost as much as when he gets the ball early in a possession.

What's wrong with this statement that it deserves a down vote, can't I have a damn opinion? Some people on this board are just weak with crap like that.

I agree with the changes and Ross I think would be hugh he would bring us that deep threat. Also I don't think Scott adds anything to this team against that zone he never penitrated and the only time he did he turned it over if this guy can shoot he needs to as he had a lot of oppertunities to do so. He plays like a high school player and not like a mc donalds all american.

  • You may be right but remember you don;t se practices and how the play there. After the "scrubs" from the other team are in isn't and indicator either.
