I don't see how you can guarantee that there are more OSU fans that like the Reds than UK fans. OSU fans are probably split evenly between the Reds and Indians and then there is a good amount of Pirates fans that somehow get in the mix. The Cardinals are the only team remotely close to Kentucky other than the Reds. The Reds have 29 radio affiliates in Kentucky opposed to 22 in Ohio. The University of Kentucky is 15 miles closer to Cincinnati than OSU.

From what I understand they didn't honor Kentucky's final four last year - but when I was in college they did used to have OSU day where both the basketball and football coach went. They always honor state championships in softball and baseball no matter if they are in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky, have honored championship teams in Cincinnati regardless if it is the Comandos or whomever and they honored NKU's national championship in soccer.

There are nearly 10,800 UK alums in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. There are 8,500 OSU alums in Hamilton County. That is not apples to apples geography, but OSU would have to make up a lot of fans in the Northern Kentucky area to make it equal. If you want to make an argument that they should have honored the 2002 OSU football team that is one thing, but they would be missing a huge opportunity to not honor the Kentucky team. They are 3 general managers away from the 2002 team and you are going to say that attendance and interest efforts today shouldn't be done because of what Jim Bowden did in 2002?

I am embarrassed for the Buckeye fans on here bashing the city of Cincinnati and the Reds over this topic. If you knew how silly you sounded outside of this board you might think twice.

Said this on another board and will say it here. Geography 101 people. The Reds essentially border 3 states. 2 of them are Kentucky and Indiana who do not have baseball teams. There are a bunch of UK, UL and IU fans among others that also happen to be Reds fans.

In contrast, the Indians border no other states. Their fan base is almost exclusively made up from central and northern Ohio. Thus, the bulk of their College coverage is the Bucks and MAC teams.

Baseball is a business and the Reds customers are people that happen to also cheer for the schools I mentioned above. Why is that so hard to get.

It's like some folks have some level of envy towards Cincinnati on this board. I lived in central Ohio the bulk of my life and I cannot relate to this line of thinking.

Regardless, keep this discussion here so you don't get all Buckeye fans labeled as geographically challenged.
