Anybody catch the attempted Flop at about 1:40 mark?

  • announcers calling out IU for trying to "flop" at about the 1:40 mark. They scored on that 3 pointer, then one of their guards tried to act like Craft ran him over during inbound. Announcer said "Indiana just tried a flop, it was obvious as the IU coaches were up calling for the foul before the flop happened".....

I'd be embarrassed if all my coach can come up with to bring us back in a game is to fake a bunch of fouls....Dude needs to coach Soccer, that's the sport of true floppers...

  • Yep. I saw Yogi getting up off the floor, and then I heard Dakich bring up the fact that Ferrell attempted to flop, but the refs weren't buying it.

  • One of the many reasons I can't stand that turd, Crean.

  • Can't stand Crean! I live in Indy and he is so full of sh$&! He is as slimy as they get!

  • I mean seriously....If you're a player and the coach looks at you and says "I want you to go get next to this guy and act like he hit you, go to the floor and act like you're in serious pain". Would you have any respect for that guy? Me, definitely not..

  • Blame Dean Smith. Back in the day I watched two of his guys take simultaneous flops near mid-court as the opposing point guard was bringing the ball up the court. They just jumped in front of their men and shot backwards and slid on their asses. It was like watching synchronized diving. He also ran the 4-corners around the same time - hence the shot clock. He never saw a rule (loop-hole) he didn't try to take advantage of.

Well, I get jumped all the time for saying Dean was among the most overrated coaches. Yes, a LOT of wins, but how many championships with all that talent he rolled through Chapel Hill. And back then, there wasn't nearly the number of great players there are today, so Dean had his pick of players and did the least with them possible. I live in NC, and it is still widely joked about down here that Dean was the only person that could hold Jordan under 20pts a game.

its part of the game, man. They wouldn't do it if they weren't getting rewarded for it.

  • Actuall if you flip in soccer a good ref with yellow card you. Basketball has had flippers for years it's not new. They just need to call a flop a personal foul and that will cut out a lot of the problem.

  • It was so frustrating watching Ted Valentine. He didn't call a foul against Indiana in the second half until about the 4 minute mark.

  • Crean should be fined for this by the B1G. This type of play has ruined basketball. Get the pussy ass Euro flopping out of the game. What grown man would resort to these tactics? Crean has a vagina.

  • I wonder if this outrage was on the boards when Thomas did one of the worst flops I have seen last year vs tsun. Maybe it was, but I remember laughing at Thomas faking being elbowed. The NCAA needs to take it out of the game, but until they do getting fouls called even where there aren't any is part of the game. .

Seriously did Ted's daughter get raped at Ohio State or something? The Buckeyes coaching staff would have a valid complaint if they filed one with the B1G. It was as if Valentine had personal reasons to punish Craft and the other Buckeyes.

I wonder if the B1G meant for IU to win on their senior night and that is why Valentine was so biased in his foul calling.

I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories but damn that was ridiculous.

Well at the end of the game Valentine actually hurt IU...They were mugging trying to get fouls called because we weren't in the bonus. He stood there and watched Lenzell get slashed and gashed and didn't call a foul and we ran 11 more seconds off the clock. So, in that regard it helped us..

  • To me, it was as though the refrees in that game were not going to "let the Hoosiers lose" on their home floor the "precious Assembly Hall" on Senior night....the series of fouls not called on Indiana in these final 3 minutes or so was almost laughable....and the call where Smith was cloberred under the basket and called for a charge was one of the worst calls of 2013. I think that is the one where Matta made the TV face! Lets face it, the announcers, rabid IU fans, the TV pundits at half time and after the game were "stunned" to see "lowly Ohio State take the favored Hoosiers to the well and kick their fanny's at home....funny thing is we have beaten Indiana 3 out of the last 4 rgames at their place! Indiana neveer did have control of this game and no real answeers for Craft and Scott who dictated the pace of the game..and picked their pockets or disrupted their play almost every time down the floor in the 2nd half.

  • For thsoe of us who have played sports in our lifetime (specifically hoops) flopping is the most irritating thing....EVER!!!! It is part of the game but until they change it this shit will continue.

the game needs to do more.....I think College BBALL should take the lead from the NBA about flopping. To what extent? I don't know but the whole thing with reviewing every little possible elbow is ABSURD!!!!!! It is a phsyical game....sometimes you are going to get an elbow to the chops.

The Sheehy flop during the Minnesota game was absolutely horrendous and he is a pussy for listening to his coaches and trying to pull that off.

Tryling to "sell a charge" is one thing but acting you got elbowed when the dude never touched you is taking it to a whole new shitty level.

I agree with the comments on soccer.....I personally do not care one way or the other for Soccer but I have never seen more fake ass shit in any sport other than soccer. You get touched and you go down acting like you are dying but you are up and jogging around back in the game two min late. Hate that shit and SOccer has to be the worst.

Play the sport and don't be a puss.

    Agree!!
I understand the "flop" when trying to sell a charge call...that's not what Crean is doing though, he's trying to get a flagrant foul called on a guy for an absolute acting job.

If our Buckeyes did this crap I'd say the same thing..BUSH LEAGUE...The BIG needs to issue a warning that this nonsense will result in a flagrant foul being called on the offending "Actor"....That way Crean would stop with all the BS...

    Context, context, context.

I recall that flop and everyone was fooled because the ball handler brought his elbows high to clear space (meaning any contact is an automatic foul). Thomas then reacted like a stuntman so that only a slow mo replay revealed a complete lack of contact (probably because he actually thought an elbow was hitting him in the mouth which it would have).

Not exactly that same thing as a flop away from the ball by a team that is trying to claw its way into a game with some help from whistles.
